The kingdom of France help the Union in the american civil war

If France had not become a republic in 1848 but remained a monarchy would King Louis Philippe II have become,IOTL participated in the American Civil War on the side of the Union,if he had come to power would he still have helped the country?Would the British have stood by and watched?

Would the British have stood by and watched?

Mostly likely yes. For them the political and economic situation had not changed.

Also why would he side with the Union? Surely he would be more attuned with the oligarchs of the South that the republic of the North?

Louis-Phillipe would have been into his 90es than. If alive and mentally capable would he even consider such a move ?

Given that Philip Count of Paris and his sons served in the Union army

So yes the Kingdom of France may support the Union

But they will use the war for petty projects like reclaiming Haiti and supporting the French King of Patagonia

But not something as massive as the intervention in Mexico, which is mainly associated with the person of Napoleon III

Basically if we want to survive the monarchy of July

Louis Philippe must die

So we must look at King Ferdinand I of France (Ferdinand Philippe, Duke of Orléans and Prince Royal)

Why did they join the Union Army and where did they serve? The answers may give clues as to whether a Kingdom of France would support the Union.
