After Close encounters of the third kind Spielberg went to Albert Broccoli about making a James Bond film but overpriced himself from the chance which telling his story to George Lucas, George pitched his idea for Raiders of the lost Ark giving us Indiana Jones. But what if the failures of Moonraker and 1941 caused a desperate Eon production to bring on a humbled Spielberg to direct For your eyes only in 1981 instead of Raiders of the lost ark

Then we would have gotten a 007 film that tells his origins; Raiders would have been directed by someone else, most likely Sam Peckinpah
I was planning on recasting the recurring characters for FYYO anyway. And so Kris Krisofferson as Dr. Jones huh?

Sorry just thinking of when he shoots the Swordsman and it takes 2 minutes of slo-mo, and buckets of Blood, for the poor guy to die.
Also, we get to see the propeller scene to it's full effect.
Finally, Peckinpah dies from pure joy upon filming all the effects that go into opening the Ark. the scene is still invoked when pressure groups want to censor films.
Instead of the Head of Alfredo Garcia its "Bring Me the Ark of the Covenant!"

Indiana Jones Shooting the swordsman was done because Harrison Ford had the flu at the time. There is no indication he will get cast ITTL
He was cast because Spielberg really wanted him, over the objections of Lucas, and Tom Selleck had scheduling conflicts.

Hey it was the only picture I could find that didn't have the robot dog in it
