An Announcement.
An Announcement.
I’ll be launching Sergeant Frosty Publications (SFP) in October. SFP will produce: “Historical Fiction for Children and Young Adults.”
As there are a number of people here who are interested in different aspects of history, this may be of some interest and relevance to you.
From October, I’ll be producing 3-5 books each month. Initially, they’ll come out as e-books, and later (sales willing) as paperbacks.
I’ve carried out one preliminary trial run: The Complete Tales of Sergeant Frosty, currently available from Amazon.
So why aren’t you starting right away?
I’ve got three reasons for starting in October.
- Empty Nest Syndrome. That’s when Andrew and Katya leave to go to start university, and Alison and Gareth start going to school. Until then, I’ve got teenagers fretting about upcoming exams, youngsters scurrying around, and a million and one real-life things to deal with. Once October arrives, I’ll have rather more time on my hands.
- PPPPPP. Proper Preparation Prevents Piss-Poor Performance. This speaks for itself. I’m pulling things together and testing out processes to ensure that when I launch, I only have a moderate number of crises overwhelming me.
- The Big C. Some of you may know that I have got fairly serious cancer. Initially, back in November, the doctors described it as “terminal”. Well, treatments have developed, and I’ve gone from “No chance” to “A Modest chance.” Come April, I’ll have a better idea of my odds, and come August, I’ll be through the worst of the treatment. It seems a bit futile starting something before I get through what may be a bumpy period.
You recall that I spoke about preparation? One thing that I need to set up are stables of proof-readers, cover artists, marketeers, and authors (in that order of priority). At this stage, I can’t offer anything beyond nominal payment. If you’re interested in any of these, drop me a line.
I’ll give more details as and when they become available.
Sorry, who are you?
Some of the longer-term members here may remember me. I wrote a number of stories and TLs here, and I’ve been knocking around the AH genre for, well, more than a couple of decades now.
Examples of my published work include:
Bring Me My Bow.
Complete Tales of Sergeant Frosty.
Return of King Arthur and other Alternate Myths.
Six East End Boys
Tales from Section D.
I also wrote one of the chapters of Alternate Tastes of London. It is left as an exercise for the reader to work out which one.
