Russian Federation instead of USSR

civil war like in yugoslavia
Yugoslavia didnt had the demography imbalance of USSR
Russians where the majoraty by far
Serbia didnt had the population advantage that the russians have
Civil war is possible , but in a scale that makes the wars in Yugoslavia seem kids playing .
Full scale war would destroy the republics whit large russian minoraties and this in a nuclear power.....

Yes, this seems most likely. If there is no legal path to independence, then Georgia especially is going to be a massive problem. Ukraine had Rukh who were extra-governmental and pressing for independence - indeed it can be argued that the government of Ukraine going down a legal route to it was an attempt for the existing establishment to keep power and prevent a nationalist take over

Except Estonians, others have a relatively lesser population. Also don't forget Chuvash, Bashkirs, Khanty and Mansi. They are mostly decentralized compared to the Russian majority from what I assume. Except Khanty-Mansi republic and Chuvashia, I think all have a Russian majority (above 50%).

It's certainly possible for a federal Russia to fail like Yugoslavia, but the very way Yugoslavia was structured as a federal entity really encouraged the republics to blame each-other for problems. Civil war was not some inevitable outcome of it being a federation without a legal way to break up, it failed because its economics and politics were deeply dysfunctional and the particular form of dysfunction and the particular choices people inside and outside Yugoslavia made led to civil war.

So it's far from inevitable that a federal Russia fail in that particular way.
