There seems to be a strangely high number of named countries that are completely submerged.... damn that global warming!!!
Well, this thread is called Horrible Educational Maps for a reason...
So let's have one from the Infographics show, so it is proper education:
In context, is this supposed to be the USSR or the Communist bloc in general ?

It is all the Communist countries in the 1980s except the Caucasus
But as analytical engine says there are some missing places missing - in t he Caucasus and east Germany. But I think it includes Afghanistan
I remembered a time when the Infographics Show wasn't bog standard. Felt like an eternity ago. Didn't regret unsubscribing.
Real Life Lore has popped up here a few times too IIRC. Maybe map making and checking is a secondary thing to these channels.
And Midway is roughly the size of Taiwan, and Wake larger than Fiji
Also
- Manchukuo was only "believed to be dominated or influenced" by the Axis
- Japan and Germany politely stopped their advance at the borders of China and the Soviet Union
- The Crimea was independent and neutral
- Finland was neutral (to the USA, maybe)
- Ethiopia was neither an Allied nation nor part of the Italian colonial empire, but "occupied by Allied powers"
- Denmark was not occupied by the Axis but merely "believed to be dominated" by them
- Spain somehow got an occupation zone in France
I like this map. The more you look at it, the more you see.
