The Mummy - a 1999 Pacific States action/adventure blockbuster.

A cult-classic adventure movie set in Egypt during the 1920s, Brendan Fraser stars as Canadian adventurer Rick O'Connell, as he leads German adventuress Eva von Schüler (Rachel Weisz) and her cowardly but lovable brother Jonah (John Hannah) to the lost city of Hamunaptra, the fabled resting place of unimaginable riches. But it turns out they're not the only ones looking for Hamunaptra; rivals include an arrogant Egyptologist from Boston (Tom Selleck), a playboy treasure hunter from the Ottoman Empire (Nurettin Sonmez) and British femme fatale and Syndicalist spy (Milla Jovovich).

However, all of these rivalries suddenly become insignificant when they accidently awaken an ancient evil beneath the sands...the undead sorcerer Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo).

I just watched The Man with the Golden Gun... I'll be doing a modernized poster of it, my second poster of the film after the Daniel Craig-version one.

From the Multipolar Space Race thread, a British Proxima:

Shuttles were central to scientific operations on Proxima Centauri II - Edited from the original at james-camerons-avatar.fandom.com/wiki

Proxima Centauri II, May 1st 2107

Shelly-Ann Bolt was at the lab cataloging the last speciemens just arrived from the southern pole, a region lightly explored so far.

It was a major decision to the young biologist, to leave Oxford and spend almost a decade away, living in camps in Proxima Centauri (!!!) and having as company few hundred strangers, good 4 light-years away from the civilization.

She looked to the window to see the endless rainforest covered by a thick mist. It was always a conforting sight, reminding her of the childhood, wandering around on the mountains of the West Indies. Even though all chosen candidates have gone through endless psychological tests, the distance, the over one year delay on communications with the Solar System, surely take a toll. Most of the times it was fine, but other moments were not so good. At all.

She sighed as turned to the shelf, where Amélie and Brigitte slept peacefully. Her two black-and-white cats made everything brighter. It was by design though: the British Federation Space Agency (BFSA) strongly encouraged the mission members to adopt cats as their were an ideal company to the enclosed environments on the starship and then on the surface of the alien planet.

The outpost Highlands 2 was very remote, 800 km away from the main camp. The site was chosen to study the flora and fauna on the warmest parts of southern hemisphere but as years gone by, samples were also brought from the coldest regions of the hemisphere, hundreds of kilometers away. Shuttles were the only sensible way to get around the planet, while the satellite system in place provided all communication.

Shelly turned off the equipment, petted the cats and went to bed. Tomorrow she would have to report to Botany Town (the main station, named after the bay in Australia) as everybody were excited to the arrival of the big fleet that would turn the outpost into a colony and bring her back home.

Still frame from the intro to the infamous 90s sitcom Gordy's Home, about a suburban family who adopted a chimpanzee that had previously been sent to space by NASA.

The first season of Gordy's Home was one of the most watched family sitcoms of the 1990s. It was also famous for being the second series to start Ricky "Jupe" Park, Who was previously the star of another hit 90 sitcom, Kid Sheriff.

Tragedy struck during the filming of the season 2, premiere "Happy Birthday Gordy". While filming, a balloon popped and the monkey that played Gordy reacted violently, attacking several cast members. Park was the only member of the cast to not sustain any injuries.

The "Gordy Incident" as many in the media dubbed it, is largely the reason for why live animals, particularly chimpanzees, are no longer allowed on film sets.

The incident was famously parodied on Saturday Night Live, wherein Darrell Hammond, Cheri Oteri and Ana Gasteyer were overwhelmed by the behavior of Gordy (played by Chris Kattan). While the sketch was well received at the time, both Daryl Hammond and Chris Kattan, have gone on record saying they regret doing the sketch, especially in light of Jupe Park's mysterious disappearance.

Various stills from the 1980s horror comedy Killer Grannies From Mars, directed by the Chiodo brothers, which served as their follow up to Killer Clowns From Outer Space. While less well known than that film, it still viewed as cult classic.

The final warm up game before the start of the Triangular Tournament of 1951 saw the Joint Northern Republics of Novgorod and Neva play First Division leaders Manchester United in-front of a capacity crowd at Old Trafford.

A first half goal from striker Jack ‘Gunner’ Rowley saw United take the lead until a 63rd minute penalty, after young full back Roger Byrne hauled down Aleksandr Ivanov of FC Zenit in the box. The game finished 1-1, with Ivanov coolly slotting the spot kick he’d won past Ray Wood.

Four days later, an unchanged Novgorod and Neva would kick off the Triangular Tournament against the Kingdom of Greece at the recently completed ‘Wembley of the North’, Vale Park.

Picture from 1986 Australian feature film Joey & Joey about a big time Sydney lawyer and his punchy paralegal sidekick. Made by Jim Henson's Creature Shop, Joey the Kangaroo made several cameos in Muppet properties later, often appearing as their legal counsel.
