Peshawar Lancers Redux: Latin America

Brazil was funding the rebuilding of Portugal with assistance from Hawaii. It was also running Portugal's African Empire.

The Invasion of Mexico came as a great Shock to the Mexican strongman. Spain and its Latin American Ally were determined to topple the government of Mexico and restore Spanish rule to New Spain. The United States was in no condition to oppose it and the Central American Republic was not expected to object either. Nor did Hawaii offer any objectionss

The Spanish and Nueva Granadan forces pressed on to Mexico City. It appeared that some of the Mexican forces were surrendering rather than to fight for the Mexican dictator.

I'm not sure Spain and Nueva Granada would be able to retain control of Mexico. IMHO, with other allies like the US, they could however defeat it, and force a more reasonable government.

It remains to be seen whether the efforts of Nueva Granada and Spain the re-establish Spanish control of Mexico would work I have little doubt that a victorious Nationalist America would be more than happy to help insure that the Mexican dictator and his supporters would be crushed once and for all< it is likely that even f they did crush the dictator it would require a large military force to maintain law and order

Th March on Mexico City continued with the two allies crushing the Mexican defenses. Hawaii was aware fro intelligence gathered else where what was happening but it was busy with trade deals with Nueva Granada and it did not want to upset talks besides the Mexican leader was definitely a bad character and he was getting what he deserved. Hawaii's Intelligence service was busy learing a lot of the plas for Mexico from sources in Spain.

The allied Forces were knocking on the door to Mexico City. It was clear to the Mexican Dictator that his enemy was determined to crush him like the bug that he was He had heard that they planned to hang him or blow him up with an old cannon. He was planning on sneaking away to a secure spot on Mexico's West coast and then drawing all of his forces to him to confront the enemy. In fact many of his military forces were deserting. They preferred to surrender rather than die for the terror.

The Central American Republic had changed a great deal over the past 11 years and that was all due to Hawaiian investments in the country. Doctors and nurses had been trained in Hawaii and now manned the new hospitals. The railroad was far better than it had been and the telegraph/telephone system was providing better communication. The Country's Military was more professional and less likely to mount coups. Employment was rising and the people were enjoying a booming economy.

The Central American Republic Had seen a lot of growth in its economy. The American Canal Project had provided a lot of jobs both directly and indirectly. Trade had also provided more. The old days of instability had gone as the economy had inproved and the Police and Military had also insured the security of the nation.

Central American Republic American Canal: The SS Polynesian Princess a brand new freighter became the first ship to be allowed to take passage through the Canal. It was a test to see if the canal could handle traffic in its current state. The voyage went forward without any problems but the Hawaiian Engineers wanted to keep it restricted until a few more things were completed. The SS Hawaiian Princess was carrying cargo bound for Fort St Louisbourg. Aboard were a Royal Hawaiian Naval detachment to man a 3 Inch Naval gun and two Machine guns.

The Spanish-Neuva Granada Alliance was still dealing with Mexico. There was a proposal for Spain to re-establish itself in what had one time been called New Spain but there were some doubts about that. For now the main task was capturing and then trying the Mexican dictator. The man was unpopular and since he was on the run more and pore of the Mexican people were turning against hi,

The Hawaiian Intelligence Agency reported that A well equipped Spanish Cavalry unit had finally run the Mexican dictator to ground. They had surrounded the ranch where he was staying and called upon him to surrender. He refused. A detachment of Neuva Granada Infantry with Artillery arrived and they began the siege. Finall after a bombardment the ranch was stormed and the body of the dictator was found So ended the search. A viceroy was appointed by Spain and a series of trials was carried out weeding out the corruption.

Spain and it's ally were now discussing what to do next. With the exception of some need to mob up bandits they controlled the country . America was coming together and it was doubtful that it would be happy to see Spain back in control of Mexico but on the other hand Spain would maintain order and not interfere with the US.

Mexico City: The arrival of the new Viceroy signaled that Spain was not abandoning Mexico but his instructions from the Government in Spain was clear that he could not count on massive reinforcements nor a lot of additional resources. He basicly was to restore order and re-establish the Mexican Colonial Army. There would be new elections.
