List of Saturday Morning Blocks

Introduction / 2006-2007
  • Having seen games where people list names of successive heads of state on this website, I wanted to something similar for pop culture, which I'm doing right here.

How this game will work is that people will list a SatAM block for a broadcast network during successive television seasons, with the timeline continuing until the 2023-24 season at which point we start again.

    Here are the rules:
    1) Each person must wait one turn before going again. There are no claims in this game, but be sure to allow someone else to go first before having another turn.
    2) No negating previous turns.
    3) Please write at least one line detailing the events that lead to the TL differing from OTL.
    4) Under the schedule, please write at least one line detailing the new shows that premiered, network acquisitions or other events that occurred during the turn's television season.
    5) Time limits are allowed as an option.
    6) Don't skip into the future, stay in order.
    7) You can expand or shrink how many hours the SatAM block airs for.
    8) While you can create original shows, using ones that exist in OTL is fine as well. You can sightly alter OTL shows to be not the exact same if you want.
    9) You can do SatAM blocks for multiple networks, but they have to be in the same timeline.
    10) Be nice to each other and follow forum etiquette.

    Example post:
Disney buys CBS instead of ABC

    2006-2007
    CBS (Disney's One Saturday Morning):

    8:00: Breakfast with Bear
    8:30: Mickey Mouse's Toontown
9:00: Lilo and Stitch: The Series
    9:30: The Emperor's New School
    10:00: Brother Bear: The Series
    10:30: The Replacements
    11:00: American Dragon: Jake Long
    11:30: Team Atlantis
12:00: Power Rangers Mystic Force (Fall)/Power Rangers Operation Overdrive (Spring)

The four new shows would premiere this season. These include:
    • Mickey Mouse's Toontown, which follows the titular character as he goes on misadventures with his friends in Toontown. Notable for the inclusion of Roger Rabbit, the show would help refamiliarize audiences with Roger in anticipation of the sequel to Who Framed Roger Rabbit coming out in 2008.
    • The Emperor's New School, which sees Kuzco, the main character of The Emperor's New Groove, being forced to attend Kuzco Academy to gain a proper education. The show is notable for having several of the voice actors like Eartha Kitt and Patrick Warburton return to reprise their roles from the original movie.
    • Brother Bear: The Series, which picks up from the original movie and its Direct-to-DVD sequel as we follow the continuing adventures of Kenai and Koda.
    • The Replacements, which centers around two orphans and the antics they get into with their adopted family they received from FleemCo.

There's also Power Rangers Operation Overdrive, which premiered in the spring. Unlike previous installments in the Power Rangers franchise, this one follows the Rangers fighting evil around the world, rather than only their home city of San Angeles.

    Now let's begin!

    ABC Kids remains on air
    2006-2007
    ABC Kids:

8:00: Good Morning America (Not part of ABC Kids)
    9:00: The Emperor's New School
    9:30: The Replacements
    10:00: The Buzz on Maggie
    10:30: That's So Raven
    11:00: Hannah Montana
11:30: The Suite Life of Zack and Cody
12:00: Power Rangers Mystic Force (Fall)/Power Rangers Operation Overdrive (Spring)

Not much different from OTL other than The Buzz on Maggie getting a second season.

  • 2007-2008:
    ABC Kids remains on air
    Qubo is still on NBC
    Kewlopolis keeps running on CBS
    4Kids sticks with Fox
    Kids WB! doesn't shut down

    ABC Kids:
    8:00: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (E/I)
8:30: My Friends Tigger and Pooh (E/I)
    9:00: The Emperor's New School
    9:30: The Replacements
10:00: That's So Raven (Fall) / Cory in the House (Summer)
10:30: Cory in the House (Fall) / Wizards of Waverly Place (Spring)
    11:00: Hannah Montana
11:30: The Suite Life of Zack and Cody
    12:00: Digimon Data Squad
12:30: Power Rangers Operation Overdrive (Fall) / Power Rangers Jungle Fury (Spring)

-Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and My Friends Tigger & Pooh, two Playhouse Disney cartoons based on Disney's biggest animated IPs, replace Good Morning America.
-Cory in the House replaces The Buzz on Maggie, only for Wizards of Waverly Place to go and replace it midseason.
-However, Cory does air in Raven's old timeslot in the summer months.
-Hannah, Zack, and Cody stick around unchanged.
-Power Rangers gets cut back in favor of showing Digimon Data Squad, the other property Saban still wanted to make by the time Disney bought them.
-Yes, this does technically mean we have anime on ABC Kids. And all the otakus with Internet connections promptly begged for more.

    Qubo:
8:00: Today (Not part of Qubo.)
9:00: Postman Pat (Fall) / Jacob Two-Two (Winter)
9:30: Dragon (Fall) / The Zula Patrol (Summer)
    10:00: Curious George
    10:30: The Land Before Time
    11:00: My Friend Rabbit
    11:30: VeggieTales
    12:00: 3-2-1 Penguins!
    12:30: Jane and the Dragon

-Weekend Today gets cut back an hour in favor of Curious George moving to NBC, and The Land Before Time airing here instead of Cartoon Network.
-Postman Pat and Dragon, being the least remembered of this season's Qubo offerings, get replaced with the return of Jacob Two-Two, and the NBC premiere of The Zula Patrol.
-My Friend Rabbit, VeggieTales, 3-2-1 Penguins!, and Jane and the Dragon all stick around on Qubo, but in different timeslots than OTL's block placement.
-Due to being the oldest midseason outing IOTL, Babar does not return to Qubo, but the satellite subchannel airs it.

    Kewlopolis:
7:00: The Saturday Early Show (Not part of Kewlopolis.)
8:00: Care Bears: Adventures in Care-a-Lot
    8:30: Dance Revolution
    9:00: Strawberry Shortcake
    9:30: Horseland
    10:00: Cake
    10:30: Trollz
    11:00: Sushi Pack
    11:30: DinoSquad

-The Saturday Early Show gets demoted to 7 AM. I'm surprised this hasn't happened sooner, but it's not like CBS was really doing anything that warranted an uninterrupted block.
-In its place, Dance Revolution returns in place of Sabrina: The Animated Series, while it and Trollz aren't replaced midseason.
-Also with that extra hour of animation, Sushi Pack and DinoSquad get fast-tracked to September.

    4Kids TV:
8:00: The Adrenaline Project (Fall) / Di-Gata Defenders (Summer)
8:30: Yu-Gi-Oh! GX (Fall) / Kirby: Right Back at Ya! (Summer)
    9:00: Chaotic
9:30: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003)
10:00: TMNT (2003) (Fall) / Biker Mice from Mars (2006) (Summer)
    10:30: Dinosaur King
11:00: Viva Pinata (Fall) / Winx Club (Spring)
    11:30: Sonic X

-Without a second block to call home, 4Kids TV on Fox becomes rather unified in its programming schedule. Especially with the 4Kids stuff on WB also being found on Fox IOTL.
-Chaotic, TMNT, Dinosaur King, and Sonic X were lucky enough to get an unchanging timeslot this season.
-In the summer, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX moves to Cartoon Network's SatAM lineup, skipping Kids WB! entirely.

    Kids WB!:
    7:00: Will and Dewitt
    7:30: Magi-Nation
    8:00: Tom and Jerry Tales
    8:30: Shaggy and Scooby-Doo Get a Clue!
    9:00: Johnny Test (2005)
    9:30: Skunk Fu!
10:00: Eon Kid (Fall) / The Spectacular Spider-Man (Spring)
    10:30: Legion of Super Heroes
    11:00: The Batman
11:30: Teen Titans (Fall) / World of Quest (Spring)

-Teen Titans reruns are just a placeholder until Spider-Man and World of Quest open up.
-Because of WB's continuing efforts to compete, there are rumors that a few more renewals of existing shows may wind up getting announced in the 2008 upfront. But those are just rumors.

Did I read the assignment correctly?

    - Doc McStuffins and Jessie make their debuts on ABC Kids midseason.

    Qubo:
8:00 AM: Noodle and Doodle (E/I)
    8:30 AM: The Wiggles (E/I)

    - With more shows not produced by 4Kids beginning to air on the block, 4Kids TV is rebranded back to FoxBox.
    - If you're wondering why Pajanimals is airing on FoxBox and not Qubo, that is because the original shorts were co-produced by 4Kids Entertainment.
    - The Diary of a Wimpy Kid cartoon is much like the books and films it's based on, following Greg Heffley as he tries to get though the day both at home and the school he attends.

    Kids CW!:

7:30 AM: The Adventures of Chuck and Friends

    - Not many changes are made to the Kids CW! lineup this season other than the premieres of The Looney Tunes Show and the ThunderCats reboot.

    2012-2013
  • Animation Broadcasting Company:
7:00 AM: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (E/I)
7:30 AM: Doc McStuffins (Spring) (E/I)
    8:00 AM: Jungle Junction (E/I)
8:30 AM: Jake and the Neverland Pirates (E/I)
    9:00 AM: Phineas and Ferb

11:30 AM: Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja
    12:00 PM: Motorcity
    12:30 PM: TRON: Uprising

-ABC revamps the entire lineup to be more animation-centric, mainly because non-preschool animated titles are losing ground to tweencoms on Disney Channel, hence the move of those back exclusively to Disney Channel.

    2013-2014
  • Thanks.

    2013-2014:
Animation Broadcasting Company rings in the new season.
Qubo, now being the fourth kids network by this point, is still kicking.
The Hub on CBS sticks around.
Fox Kids getting revived was not for naught.
    Kids CW! remains intact.

    Animation Broadcasting Company:
7:00 AM: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (E/I)
    7:30 AM: Doc McStuffins (E/I)
8:00 AM: Jake and the Never Land Pirates (E/I)
8:30 AM: Sofia the First (E/I)
9:00 AM: The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse
    9:30 AM: Phineas and Ferb
    10:00 AM: Fish Hooks
    10:30 AM: Wander Over Yonder
11:00 AM: Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja
    11:30 AM: TRON: Uprising
    12:00 PM: Camp Lakebottom
12:30 PM: Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures

-Jungle Junction leaves the Disney Junior mini-block, while Jake and the Never Land Pirates moves up 30 minutes, both to make room for Sofia the First's broadcast debut.
-The Paul Rudish Mickey reboot gets a catchier title, taken from the OTL Disney+ revival.
-Wander Over Yonder airs on both ABC and Disney X.D. simultaneously.
-In this timeline, TRON: Uprising gets a second season. Motorcity is not as fortunate.
-Because the afternoon hour was free, a couple of acquired cartoons from DXD are added to the pile. Don't expect them to come back next year.

    Qubo:
7:00 AM: Noodle and Doodle (E/I)
    7:30 AM: The Wiggles (E/I)
    8:00 AM: Curious George (E/I)
8:30 AM: Babar and the Adventures of Badou (E/I)
9:00 AM: Mike the Knight (E/I)
    9:30 AM: Woody Woodpecker
    10:00 AM: Scaredy Squirrel
    10:30 AM: Sidekick
11:00 AM: The Day My Butt Went Psycho!
11:30 AM: Oh No! It's An Alien Invasion!
12:00 PM: The 39 Clues: The Series
    12:30 PM: Detentionaire

-Nelvana's two newest cartoons, The Day My Butt Went Psycho and Oh No! It's an Alien Invasion, bump up The 39 Clues and Detentionaire, while tossing Mr. Young and Life with Boys out completely.
-Everything else remains the same, due to all of them having some kind of following. Yes, even some of the cheaper comedies.

    The Hub on CBS:
7:00 AM: The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! (E/I)
    7:30 AM: Pound Puppies (E/I)
    8:00 AM: Littlest Pet Shop (2012) (E/I)
8:30 AM: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
    9:00 AM: The Garfield Show
9:30 AM: The Penguins of Madagascar
10:00 AM: Monsters vs. Aliens: The Series
10:30 AM: Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness
    11:00 AM: DreamWorks Dragons
11:30 AM: Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters (Fall) / SheZow! (Spring)
12:00 PM: Transformers: Prime (Fall) / Transformers: Rescue Bots (Spring)
12:30 PM: Sabrina: Secrets of a Teenage Witch

-Pound Puppies is now deemed an E/I show, replacing Strawberry Shortcake's Berry Bitty Adventures.
-Strawberry Shortcake does move back to The Hub, though. Don't think it's flopped like a souffle.
-Monsters vs. Aliens: The Series is a new show on this block.
-Littlest Pet Shop makes its broadcast premiere, which coincides with CBS finally regaining the 12 PM and 12:30 PM timeslots.
-Sabrina: Secrets of a Teenage Witch airs on CBS, which counts as a sort of homecoming for the Teenage Witch herself.

    Fox Kids:
    7:00 AM: Pajanimals
    7:30 AM: Winx Club
8:00 AM: Ice Age: The Series
    8:30 AM: Rio: The Series
9:00 AM: Diary of a Wimpy Kid
    9:30 AM: Costume Quest
10:00 AM: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012
    10:30 AM: Bravest Warriors
    11:00 AM: Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL
11:30 AM: WWE Saturday Morning Slam (Fall) / Battle Spirits (Spring)

-Battle Spirits moves into WWE's timeslot in the Spring semester, while Costume Quest squats into that show's old slot.
-This is to make room for Fox's only new show this season, an animated series based on Rio, Blue Sky's other notable franchise. Airing between Ice Age and Wimpy Kid gives it a likely shot at getting renewed.

    Kids CW!:
    7:00 AM: Crashbox (E/I)
    7:30 AM: A Little Curious (E/I)
8:00 AM: The Looney Tunes Show
    8:30 AM: Teen Titans Go!
    9:00 AM: MAD
    9:30 AM: Johnny Test
    10:00 AM: Beware the Batman
10:30 AM: Star Wars: The Clone Wars
11:00 AM: Green Lantern: The Animated Series
    11:30 AM: Young Justice

-The lineup gets a serious case of feng shui this season.
-A Little Curious replaces Kindergarten in the "HBO Family reruns" hour.
-The Looney Tunes Show moves to 8 AM, meaning Wizard of Oz isn't on the block anymore.
-New shows include Teen Titans Go! and Beware the Batman.
-Also, knowing the writers of TTG! and how they like to make Scooby-Doo references, a joke at the expense of them moving into Mystery Inc's old timeslot will be made ITTL.
-Due to business practices, the Star Wars IP in general will be relocated next year, either to ABC or Fox Kids.

    2017-2018
  • So, does anyone have plans for the 2017-18 season?
I'll try my hand at it.

    2017-2018:

    Animation Broadcasting Company:

    7:00 AM: Doc McStuffins (E/I)
7:30 AM: Puppy Dog Pals (E/I)
8:00 AM: The Lion Guard (E/I)
8:30 AM: Elena of Avalor (E/I)
9:00 AM: The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse
    9:30 AM: Milo Murphy's Law
    10:00 AM: Rapunzel's Tangled Adventures
    10:30 AM: Billy Dilley's Super-Duper Subterranean Summer
    11:00 AM: DuckTales (2017)
    11:30 AM: Future-Worm!
12:00 PM: Star vs. the Forces of Evil
    12:30 PM: Star Wars: Rebels

-Sofia the First is replaced by Puppy Dog Pals.
-Penn Zero: Part Time Hero, Pickle and Peanut, and Doraemon are thrown out. The first show already ended that summer, no one liked the second show, and the third show has outlived its usefulness.

    2020-2021
  • I might as well do it.

    2020-2021:
Animation Broadcasting Company is now called Disney Channel on ABC.
    Qubo is still around.
CBS Kidshow is now called CBS FunZone.
    Fox Kids stays the same.
Cartoon Network on The CW is still around

    Disney Channel on ABC:
7:00 AM: Puppy Dog Pals (E/I)
    7:30 AM: Muppet Babies (2018) (E/I)
    8:00 AM: Fancy Nancy (E/I)
    8:30 AM: Bluey (E/I)
9:00 AM: The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse
    9:30 AM: Big City Greens
    10:00 AM: 101 Dalmatian Street
10:30 AM: Legend of the Three Caballeros (Fall) / Monsters at Work (Spring)
    11:00 AM: DuckTales (2017)
    11:30 AM: Amphibia
    12:00 PM: The Owl House
12:30 PM: Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir

-Bluey makes its American broadcast television premiere, replacing Elena of Avalor.
-Go Away, Unicorn!, Hotel Transylvania: The Series, Star Wars: Resistance, Sadie Sparks, and Rapunzel's Tangled Adventures leave the block.
-Amphibia and The Owl House get full year-round timeslots to fill up the room.
-101 Dalmatian Street and Legend of the Three Caballeros make their US television premieres after being on Disney+ for a few months. The latter is replaced by an earlier premiere for Monsters at Work during the midseason.

    Qubo:
7:00 AM: Masha and the Bear E/I)
    7:30 AM: Mighty Mike (E/I)
8:00 AM: The VeggieTales Show (E/I)
    8:30 AM: Where's Waldo? (E/I)
9:00 AM: The Boss Baby: Back in Business
9:30 AM: Archibald's Next Big Thing
    10:00 AM: Dragons: Rescue Riders
    10:30 AM: Cleopatra in Space
    11:00 AM: Spirit Riding Free
11:30 AM: Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts
12:00 PM: 3Below: Tales of Arcadia (Fall) / Wizards: Tales of Arcadia (Spring)
    12:30 PM: Beyblade Burst

-Mighty Mike begins airing on the Qubo block, as one of the CBS casualties.
-The VeggieTales Show is one of the new shows on the lineup, an unexpected homecoming for Bob and Larry in a way.
-Trollhunters is replaced by both its successors in its old show: 3Below and Wizards.
-New shows also include Archibald's Next Big Thing, Dragons: Rescue Riders, Cleopatra in Space, and Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts.
-Beyblade Burst remains a constant show at the end.

    CBS FunZone:
    7:00 AM: PAW Patrol (E/I)
    7:30 AM: Blue's Clues and You! (E/I)
8:00 AM: My Little Pony: Pony Life
8:30 AM: Potato Head Kids (2018)
9:00 AM: Milky Way and the Galaxy Girls
    9:30 AM: Welcome to Candyland
10:00 AM: Transformers: Rescue Bots Academy
    10:30 AM: Ollie's Pack
    11:00 AM: Spongebob Squarepants
    11:30 AM: The Loud House
    12:00 PM: The Casagrandes
    12:30 PM: Glitch Techs

-Hasbro and Nickelodeon now have an equal amount of airtime on CBS's lineup. This ties into a new name for the block.
-The only new Hasbro cartoon, now that its library has been cut in half, is My Little Pony: Pony Life. It replaces Equestria Girls for the franchise, meaning it's not entirely new.
-However, the Potato Head Kids revival, Welcome to Candyland, and Transformers: Rescue Bots Academy stick around as they are, while Ollie's Pack and Milky Way remain on the side of Allspark
-I do think it's funny how the former of those two airs right before Spongebob, knowing how badly the show got treated IOTL on Nick.
-As for what gets put on Nick's half of the block, PAW Patrol and the Sponge are locks even if the minimum amount only called for one hour.
-The Loud House is there because it's the new second banana of Nicktoons at this rate. The Casagrandes is also there because that show is one of the Nicktoons that was still in production.
-Conversely, Blue's Clues and You is the latest incarnation of an old franchise CBS used to air the last time they had Nick take over their block.
-Glitch Techs, on the other hand? That's a complete surprise that would have turned heads.

    Fox Kids:
    7:00 AM: Biscuit
7:30 AM: Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children: The Animated Series
    8:00 AM: Boots
8:30 AM: Diary of a Wimpy Kid
9:00 AM: The Adventures of Kid Arthur
9:30 AM: Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
    10:00 AM: Dorg Van Dango
    10:30 AM: X-Men '97
    11:00 AM: Digimon Appverse
    11:30 AM: Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS

-Splat the Cat and the Little Bear reboot are gone, replaced by an adaptation of Biscuit. You all remember Biscuit, right?
-Meanwhile, Mega Man: Fully Charged is replaced with Dorg Van Dango.
-Everything else remains on the now-independent Fox Kids. Some of it might be on its last legs, though.

    Cartoon Network on The CW:
    7:00 AM: Yabba-Dabba Dinosaurs
    7:30 AM: Summer Camp Island
    8:00 AM: Looney Tunes Cartoons
    8:30 AM: Animaniacs (2020)
    9:00 AM: Teen Titans Go!
9:30 AM: Craig of the Creek
    10:00 AM: Apple and Onion
    10:30 AM: Victor and Valentino
    11:00 AM: ThunderCats Roar
11:30 AM: DC Super Hero Girls

-Cartoon Network on The CW reverts back to mainly having 30-minute timeslots, cutting shows like Jorel's Brother and Unikitty! off the block.
-Yabba-Dabba Dinosaurs continues the Cartoonito hour, while Summer Camp Island is treated as an E/I program. The latter retains its over-6 ratings on CN itself.
-New shows for semi-older audiences include Looney Tunes Cartoons, the Animaniacs reboot, and ThunderCats Roar.
