- A tangent on why Spider-Man is on ABC. Following Paramount's purchase of Marvel in 2009, they made a deal with Disney to allow shows starring Marvel heroes to air on Disney X-D. Unfortunately, Marvel’s attempt at creating a cinematic universe failed due to inference from Ike Perlmutter and Paramount, resulting in the end of the MCU after the release of the box office bomb that was The Avengers. Paramount would sell Marvel to Disney in 2015, with the latter creating a rebooted MCU headed by James Gunn.
