What if jesus became senator ?
Lawyer-politician-senator

How would this affect the spread of Christianity?

Roman citizen - Legionnaire- centurion------ senate
A Jesus that joined the legions and killed enemies with a sword until he was victorious enough to be made Senator wouldn't be the Biblical Jesus, so Christianity would not be founded, or would be founded by someone else.

[ he would still be quoted as saying "I came not to bring peace but a sword" but it would be in the context of military conquest ]

Would be interesting if Senator Jesus lived to a ripe old age, into his 70's, long enough to have some conversations with a certain Flavius Josephus...

You'd have to radically change him to the point where he'd be unrecognizable. You're not going to go from messianic preacher in a provincial backwater to the Senate in Rome. Not happening.

This is like asking what would Shakespeare's plays be like if he was King of England.

I think you’re really overestimating how easy it is to become a senator. It’s not something you can just do if you’re driven enough. And if by some happenstance he does become one then Christianity doesn’t become a thing.

More like, what if Shakespeare was king of Spain. The whole jumping into a very different culture is a huge part of this as well.
