DBWI RnR and leave instead of for the duration policy in WW1

During the first world war there was talk of allowing leave and having a policy of cycling troops through the forward and back trenches, but the british generals thought this would make their men idolent and lazy and that being on the front lines for the duration would make them commit fully to winning the war. Thus it was that the only way to get away from the front for a british solgier was to die, get injured or win the war.

But what if they didn't have this policy how would that change ww1?

How much healthier would the British soldier have been with such a plan? Could this help alleviate the large number of non-battle casualties?
