Carpe Stellas
Earth
1. Alaska is one of the most prosperous states of the Union. Global Warming changed some of the biome of the state but eventually returned after the Run For Earth Group and other affiliated organizations such as the Mars Working Corporation successfully stopped and reversed the effects of Global Warming. Alaska currently has a population of over 2 million.
2. Canada currently has a population of 60 million, the growth was mainly from immigration from the US East Coast
3. The US East Coast saw a large part of its residents move into Midwestern United States, Central United States, and Canada. Currently, the US East Coast almost has the same population as it did back in 2020 which shows just how stagnant the region became. Global Warming was seen as one of the main factors for this stagnation. It is currently showing of signs of growth again, giving hope to its residents.
4. The Central and Midwestern United States saw the fastest growth compared to the East and West Coasts. This growth came with an increase in population which saw the states of Wyoming and Montana grow to a population of 5 million and 10 million respectively.
5. The West Coast also saw the same stagnation as the East Coast. California was eventually surpassed by Texas in population with Texas reaching 50 million, almost 12% of the US in 2080 which makes Texas the most populous and influential state though the new recently acquired Martian territories might change that.
6. The Caribbean has never been better than it is now. It became an often tourist destination for people from India, China and Southeast Asia.
7. Mexico is a new rising power, it might be late for space though. Venus may be a new place for its colonies as it is currently attempting to join the Mars Working Corporation for the planned Venusian terraforming. Mexico also has plans for its own space elevator.
8. Panama joined the SEPS mainly due to the massive amount of Chinese investments in their country. This pretty much gave China an advantage due to the Panama Canal.
9. Venezuela stabilized in the 2030s mainly due to Brazil and US efforts, giving Brazil its first country to have significant influence over.
10. The West Atlantic International Space Elevator is already reaching its capacity which is why Brazil built its own space elevator, the Macapa Space Elevator.
11. Brazil is another rising power from the Americas with its 280 million people, space elevator, slice of Martian territory, and a hegemony over most of South America. The Amazon rainforest is healing under the efforts of its government since the 2040s.
12. Argentina is the only Mercosur member that acts very independently of Brazil with its own ambitions of having a piece of the planets one day.
13. Unlike most SEPS members, Ecuador is not heavy with Chinese investments. Instead, Ecuador has a lot of Filipino and Indonesia investments which is why when the inevitable ASEAN, Japanese, and Korean withdrawal from SEPS comes, Ecuador will probably follow and SEPS will have one less space elevator.
14. The East Pacific Space Elevator is the sole American controlled space elevator with plans for expansion and another space elevator as it reaches capacity.
15. The United Kingdom eventually returned to the European Union as they stood at mercy of Multinational corporations, but this return to the EU is mainly due to Indian, American, and Brazilian pressure right after the Lagrange Crisis.
16. France is the new main economic center of Europe although all of Europe has never been insignificant as it is now in the modern world although the new EU Mars territories might change that. Paris is also no longer the largest city in the Francophone, that title now belongs to Kinshasa with its 50 million residents.
17. Germany has seen significant economic and population stagnation in the 21st Century although the new Martian territories might give it the revival and boost it needs.
18. Poland is a new European power with its Eastern European Economic Community. The rise of Poland is mainly due to Chinese influence.
19. The rise of fusion power and other renewable energy meant the end of Russia’s fossil-fuel based economy. Fortunately, China is there to prevent Russia from collapsing with the side effect of Russia having significant Chinese immigration and dependence on the Chinese economy.
20. Turkey is the new hegemon of the Middle East, but its attempts to create an economic union is secretly blocked by China.
21. Kazakhstan enjoys prosperity due to being the center of routes of Chinese products throughout Eurasia which also means it is within Chinese grasp.
22. Pakistan is just another Chinese trade corridor firmy within China’s grasp. It will be very hard to get them out of Chinese influence.
23. The Middle East became stable due to Iranian, Turkish, Russian, and Chinese effort. Chinese investments soon came in and the region experienced significant economic growth.
24. The Dadaab Space Elevator is Kenya’s ticket to being a world power. However, Kenya doesn’t have a piece of the colonies yet (emphasis on the yet)
25. Mozambique is another key to Indian dominance in the Indian Ocean hosting an Indian Naval Base.
26. The Democratic Republic of the Congo is another rising African power wanting a piece of Venus for themselves and potentially some moons in the Outer Solar System in the upcoming Second Delhi Conference set in 2101.
27. The seas around Null Island (Coords 0,0) is seen as the main gateway to the stars from Earth due to being that largest concentration of space elevators.
28. Nigeria is Africa’s most powerful nation so far. Along with Japan, Korea, all of ASEAN, and Ecuador, Nigeria is one of the nations within the SEPS whose withdrawal from said organization is inevitable. Once this withdrawal happens, there is high possibility that Nigeria will have the rest of the West African Economic Community withdraw too.
29. Western Sahara eventually gained its independence and immediately saw massive Indian and Chinese investments. Currently, Western Sahara is a prosperous country that maintains a neutral foreign policy.
30. India is the second largest economy and the largest in population. The Indian economy and its Assembly of Nations is now catching up to China and its Shanghai Economic Prosperity Sphere.
31. Sri Lanka is the main concentration of Chinese power in the Indian Ocean hosting a Chinese naval base.
32. The Indian Ocean Space Elevator is India’s main gateway to the stars but it is fast reaching its capacity which means it might need an expansion or another space elevator.
33. Indonesia has the most number of space elevators within its national territory although it controls only one of it. Two of elevators are controlled by the Philippines and China. Indonesia is another power from Asia with a piece of Mars and its 320 million people. Along with the Philippines, rest of ASEAN, and Japan, they are the most vocal critics of China within the SEPS.
34. The Philippines, China’s former right hand man in the SEPS, is now among the countries most critical of China within the SEPS. It is only a matter of time when the Philippines, along with Indonesia, all of ASEAN, and Japan jump to the Assembly of Nations with a high possibility of taking Ecuador with them. The Philippines is also one the main Asian powers with a significant presence in space and a Martian territory.
35. Vietnam is another emerging Asian power who wants a piece of the colonies. With its very close relationships to the Philippines and Indonesia, they might get a piece of Venus in the future and possibly its own moon in the Outer Solar System.
36. China is currently the most powerful nation and it also has the most powerful alliance, the Shanghai Economic Prosperity Sphere (SEPS), although this position is in danger of being taken by India mainly due to the disobedience of its neighbors and continuous rise of India.
37. Population decline severely weakened Japan and made it fall into Chinese influence. The last 20 years however saw a revival in the Japanese economy and its population is once again on the rise. An unintended side effect of this is Japanese disobedience to Chinese interests, and calls within the country to withdraw from SEPS and join the AN.
38. Australia has seen significant Indian immigration in the past few decades. Australia is also a key member of the Indian Ocean Treaty Organization’s Inner Circle. Australia currently has a population of 55 million with most of the growth from the past few decades being immigration from Southeast Asia, India, and Africa.
Moon
39. The Japanese Lunar Territories is the main source of Helium-3 for the hungry fusion reactors of the Home Islands. Currently, there are plans to build a Hyperloop rail in their territory to connect the other Helium-3 mining bases to the main base in the equator that has a space elevator.
40. Indonesian Luna is the main concentration of Indonesian presence on space, but soon that will be Indonesian Mars and maybe its own moon in Jupiter in the farther future. Like Japan, the Philippines, and Brazil, Indonesia has plans to build a Hyperloop rail to connect the other bases to its main space elevator.
41. Many Filipinos are now rushing to the Moon to exploit the Helium-3 present on Philippine Luna to feed the Home Archipelago’s demanding fusion reactors. There are also plans to build a Hyperloop rail to connect the growing mining bases to their space elevator in the Moon’s equator.
42. Jinyuan is China’s largest moon base with a population reaching 150,000, but it is only 4th overall on the moon. Jinyuan is also the main hub of the Chinese Lunar Hyperloop Rail Line.
43. All Helium-3 and other mined materials eventually go to the Tengtong Base, the only Chinese Lunar Base with space elevator.
44. Gopaldwal, the only Indian Lunar Base with a space elevator, is the 3rd largest on the moon with a population of 180,000 and fast growing.
45. Chirgadi is the 5th largest base on the moon with 130,000 people within its domes.
46. Armstrong is the largest base on the Moon and its very first with 300,000 people within its domes. Armstrong has 2 space elevators just outside of its domes delivering products to Earth. American Moon is also far more developed than all national territories on the Moon.
47. The United States got all of the Apollo landing sites under their Lunar Territory.
48. The Tycho Base is situated near the most prominent crater on the moon. Tycho is also the 2nd largest lunar base.
49. Almost all bases on European Moon are occupied by mixed nationalities to signify the united image that Europe wants to show.
50. Brazilian Moon also has plans for an interbase railway.
51. The International Zone on the Moon is free for claim by other nations except those who have claims already.
Mars
52. Arabia Terra, one of the ‘wettest’ and most likely be a very fertile region in the future was given to India. Currently there are already Indian plans to build cities beside the many crater lakes and the northern coast which will be connected by Hyperloop lines.
53. There are plans to give some of the land north of Isidis to the Americans.
54. One of the three planned ‘Core Sectors’ in American Mars is the shore along the Isidis Planitia. The shore around this area will have cities and multiple space elevators in the future.
55. Another one of the planned “Core Sectors” in American Mars is coast near the island of Elysium. Same with Isidis, it will have various cities and space elevators.
56. The last ‘Core Sector’ planned in American Mars is on the coast beside Hellas Planitia. It won’t have space elevators due to its location not being directly in the equator, but it is planned to be a manufacturing center.
57. India plans to construct a massive industrial complex in the coast of Hellas.
58. The Americans desired access to the Martian South Pole, and they got it.
59. The European Union got the Elysium Island.
60. The Equatorial Area of European Mars will be the future location of space elevators.
61. Brazil wanted a share of the equator, and they got it.
62. The Philippines, along with Indonesia and Japan is set to sell some land to their very close allies.
63. Japan and the Philippines split the Olympus Mons, the tallest mountain in the Solar System.
64. The panhandle in Japan’s share of Mars is due to the desire of Equatorial territory.
65. The Indonesian part of the Valles Marineris is expected to become of most fertile in the future.
66. Nigerian Mars also has a panhandle due to want of Equatorial territory.
67. China hit the jackpot when they got the area surrounding the Marineris Outflows.
68. China got the entire Argyre lake.
69. The part of the Tharsis that China got is set to be sold to China’s allies.
70. The area around China’s sole space elevator in Mars is one of the most populated in the planet.
71. India has many future plans for New Mumbia, including another space elevator and the upgrade of the current one.
