Reza Strelokov (born Reza Khan) was born in an unknown village in the Mazandaran Province of the Persian Empire in 1878, to Major Abbas-Ali Khan and Noush-Afarin, a Muslim Georgian immigrant. When his father suddenly died when Reza himself was barely 8 months old, he and his mother would move back to Georgia, to live with his extended family. As a marginalized but literate citizen of the Russian Empire, Reza would engage in left-wing politics by joining the Menshevik faction of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party. During the 1905 Revolution, Reza would later partake in several terrorist activities, encouraging violence against the Cossacks amongst Muslim communities and bombing vital pieces of infrastructure. However, the crackdown of the rebellion and the liberalization of the Caucuses under Count Vorontsov-Dashkov caused the Menshevik leadership to put a halt to the violence.

Upset at the Menshevik’s cooperation with the authorities, Reza and a group of followers would join the more radical Bolshevik faction, which continued to advocate for insurrection against the Tsar. As one of the few Bolsheviks leaders in the region, Reza would later become the Georgian representative to the Bolshevik leadership, earning him the favor of Vladimir Lenin. During this time, Reza Khan was also involved in the assassination of several Tsarist officials and informants, where his sharpshooting abilities earned him the nickname of Strelok, meaning shooter in Russian. Reza would later adopt this as nom de plume for his multiple publications advocating for guerrilla warfare.

During the Russian Civil War, Reza would rise quickly in party ranks, overseeing the mobilization of workers and the success of communist partisans as his role as Commissar of the Council of Labor and Defence. During this time, Reza would also come into conflict with the Commissar of Military Affairs Leon Trotsky, whom he disliked due to his abrasive personality and lack of military skill. Following the eventual Soviet victory, his wife would later give birth to Vladimir Rezanovich Strelokov, whom they had named after Vladimir Lenin. However, the Polish-Soviet war later broke out and Reza would oversee a massive re-organization of the Polish Red Army to increase the morale and quality of communist partisans, eventually assisting Mikhail Tukhachevsky’s capture of Warsaw.

The collapse of Pilsudski's administration and the subsequent formation of the Soviet Republic of Poland and Lithuania had transformed Reza and Trotsky into two of the most influential people in Moscow. As Lenin’s health began to fail in the following years, a significant rivalry formed between the two as the question of Lenin’s successor became increasingly prevalent. In the end, Reza’s popularity within the Party and the Red Army,w which allowed him to weaken the position of Trotsky’s “Left Opposition” within the government, culminating in his subsequent election as Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars. After purging the Left Opposition through the form of imprisonment, exile, and executions, Reza’s position as leader would be universally assured.

However, the rapid remilitarization of the Weimar Republic continued to threaten the Soviet global position, but this issue would be resolved after Germany fell into utter chaos during the Great Crash of 1930. During the Depression, the NEP’s position within the Soviet economy would be greatly revamped as small private enterprises would be effectively monopolized under the state-backed monopolies to ensure the mass industrialization of the nation. The liquidation of the kulaks and the subsequent famine in Ukraine would give rise to many crypto-nationalist Ukrainian sentiments. To resolve this, Reza would oversee the mass deportations of Ukrainians into Siberia and Central Asia, while dividing the Ruthenian, Donbass, and Crimean Republics from the Ukrainian SSR.

Subsequently, campaigns against financially successful or rebellious minorities took place, as Karelians, Abkhazians, Chechens, and Koryo-saram were targeted in the coming years. In the end, Reza’s Great Terror would ultimately centralize the economy around an increasingly exclusive system of state enterprises, of which the Red Army was a major beneficiary. This would be due to the fact that Reza had often relied on the Red Army to enforce his rule, more so than the newly-disbanded Cheka or the Party itself, as he would be later sworn in as the Generalissimus of the Soviet Union. In the eyes of the west, Reza’s Red Army would be seen as a massive threat to international peace, only rivaled by the German People’s Republic under the zealous command of Joseph Goebbels. Eventually, these fears would ring true during the Danube Spring, where thousands of revolutionaries rose up from Bucharest to Vienna, causing the German and Soviet armies to intervene and place much of Eastern Europe under communist rule. As the conquests of "The Red Genghis" struck fear into the heart of the capitalist world, they began to covertly back the Japanese Empire’s warpath across Asia.

While Japan’s dominance over China was assured, the Soviet annexations of Uyghurstan and Mongolia had risen much alarm, allowing for the rise of Sadao Araki, the chief advocate for a “Strike North” against Bolshevism. As the bombing of Vladivostok sent shockwaves across the Middle East, the underequipped armies of the Co-Prosperity Sphere began a massive invasion of the Soviet Union. While unflinching in their goal, the Japanese would later fall to the Red Army and its international allies, reducing the once-great Empire into a Soviet puppet. As cheers of victory ran throughout the nation and Strelokov’s own cult of personality had reached its absolute peak, his last act as Premier would be to establish the office of People’s Vodhz, of which he was its first officeholder. However, Strelokov would only live to celebrate this victory for a single year, dying from a heart attack on 26 July 1944. Soon after his sudden death, the party leadership would be quickly imprisoned at the hands of the Red Army, as they were pressured into electing Mikhail Tukhachevsky, The Red Napoleon as the new Soviet Premier.

The legacy of Reza Strelokov remains controversial to this day as his twenty-year regime oversaw one of the highest death tolls of any dictatorship in modern history. Negative interpretations of the first Vozhd being a belligerent warmonger, an avaricious mass-murderer, and a backwards Aryan savage would become somewhat common both during and after his reign over the Soviet Union. Despite this, Reza’s legacy as the people’s defender against imperialism and subversive infiltration remains common throughout much of the communist world. In addition, programs into mass industrialization, modernized defense systems, eugenics research, and the Latinization of the Soviet languages continue to be applauded to this day. However, the most prominent piece in Reza’s legacy takes the form of his firstborn son, Vladimir Strelokov, the last man to rule over the Soviet Union.

Rusty is a narrow gauge diesel locomotive that currently works on the Skarloey Railway, usually performing maintenance and odd jobs on the railway. He is also one of the only two diesel locomotives on the railway, the other being SKR #9 Fred.

Bio
Rusty was built by Ruston and Hornsby Ltd. in Lincoln, England and was also named after the company [1]. He was bought by Sir Handel Brown direct from the builders in 1957 to assist SKR #3 Sir Handel and SKR#4 Peter Sam [2]. Now while Rusty was the first diesel locomotive to arrive on the Skarloey Railway, he was not the first engine to have the number 5 on the railway. The original #5 was known as The Weedwacker, who only saw about two years of service before being withdrawn, dismantled and turned into a flatbed. [3]

A generally reliable engine, Rusty is usually used for track maintenance and breakdowns as well as being occasionally used in an emergency for light passenger traffic.

One day in 1958, when Sir Handel pretended to be ill at the advice of NWR's #4 Gordon, Rusty was asked to assist Peter Sam with some slate trucks and later that day had to perform a rescue operation at the former Skarloey Slate Quarry when Peter Sam had an accident on the incline.[4]

Following the return of SKR #1 Skarloey following a six year overhaul, Rusty was put back on maintenance duties but had an argument with SKR #6 Duncan (who had just arrived as a spare engine on the Skarloey Railway shortly after Peter Sam's accident)[5] about taking care of a "bad bit" of track south of Cros-ny-Cuirn. While initially refusing to help the conceited Duncan when he derailed, Skarloey reminded Rusty of his responsibility towards the passengers and he set out at once, later making up the quarrel with Duncan [6]. Later that year, Rusty and Mr. Hugh were chosen to demonstrate to the BBC television crew that were filming a documentery about the railway on how they maintained the line at Quarry Siding [7].

In 1961, Rusty and Mr. Hugh discovered a washed-out section of track south of the tunnel and the railway was closed temporarily while he and the workmen repaired the line [8]. He was later present when Rheneas finally returned home following his nine year overhaul [9].

During the centennial of the Skarloey Railway in 1965, the Lakeside loop line extension was opened in a grand ceremony at Quarry Siding. Rusty was asked to bring visitors to celebrate the occasion alongeside the other operating engines.[10]

In 1982, Rusty was in charge of carrying away tree branches and other cuttings, which were being trimmed from the line so that passengers could get a better view, through Skarloey, Peter Sam and Duncan would help out as well, with him and Peter Sam often working together. [11] [12]

In 1983, Rusty had a close encounter with a mysterious boulder, which had been carved by ancient Sudrians thousand of years ago [13] and as a result of continuing drilling within Boulder Quarry, came loose and rolled along the line for miles [14]. The Boulder narrowly avoided Rusty, Skarloey and Rheneas before crashing into and destroying a shed at the main yard filled with explosives and causing it to burst into flames (narrowly avoiding NWR #6 Percy in the process). The result of damage lead to Boulder Quarry being closed only after just under a year of operation [15].

In 1996, Rusty was put in charge of the weedkiller train after Fred claimed he was ill, a job he disliked because it required slow speeds. The weedkiller later created trouble for Rheneas, who could not get a firm grip on the wet, greasy rails [16]. He later had to take Sir Handel's trains after Sir Handel's fire bars collapsed [17]. Later that year, he attended the naming ceremony of SKR #7 Ivo Hugh [18].

As of 2020, Rusty still works on the Skarloey Railway, usually performing maintenance duties and various odd jobs as well as occasionally taking light passenger and goods trains.

Rusty is named after his builders and not his color. Rusty's name is a portmanteau of his builder Ruston and Hornsby. In the TV series, he is painted orange but is painted charcoal-black in The Railway Series.

[3]: The Weedwacker is an original creation of mine, serving as the Skarloey Railway's original #5 for a two year period. He/it was based on the Talyllyn Railway's original #5 "The Lawnmower", which was built in 1952 using a Ford Model T engine and transmission from L.T.C Rolt's narrowboat and the wheels from a Talyllyn Railway slate wagon. It worked the Fridays-only winter passenger service until 1953, when it was taken out of use with a failed gearbox. It was dismantled in 1954 and converted to a flat wagon. The Weedwacker follows a similar history.

Duncan overhears and insults Rusty. The next day, Rusty, who is still cross at Duncan, leaves him to get his own coaches, resulting in him being late for James' train. James tells him about the time he "supposedly" made Diesel leave single-handedly. Duncan is impressed, and is so focused on sending Rusty packing that he derails at the dangerous line. In the afternoon of 22 March, a Japanese naval contingent consisting of two cruisers and three destroyers, led by officer Chuichi Nagumo, entered the approaches of the intricate waterways that lead into Saigon, the administrative center and largest settlement in the German colony of Indochina. A small garrison of roughly 4,500 second-class men from the Imperial Legion protected the city. They were completely confused upon seeing the large warships bearing the Rising Sun ensign. Commanding the garrison was one Lt. Gen. Hermann Goering, a former fighter ace from the Weltkrieg days. He was equally bewildered and struggled to find reason to the ships' presence; nevertheless, he didn't ordered his troops to ready themselves nor to evacuate the city. It wasn't until the ships reached the heart of the city and started firing their deck guns that the Saigon realized that they were under attack.

The bombardment lasted over forty minutes. Enormous tracts of Saigon's most densely populated quarters were leveled. Hundreds of buildings were either partially or completely obliterated. The local troops hastily attempted to mount some kind of opposition, but they were completely overpowered by the intense shelling. The streets were congested by civilians desperate to flee the destruction, making mobility impossible and further hindering defense efforts. Eventually, after almost completely emptying their ammunition depots, Nagumo ordered a withdrawal. The Japanese contingent swiftly raced down the waterways and reentered the South China Sea.

Nearby German naval forces had been alerted of the attack. A telegraph was relayed to the headquarters of Germany's East Asia Station in Tsingtao ordering nearby ships into action. A patrol party in the Java Sea heeded the call: led by Rear Admiral Arnold Heisenberg, it consisted of two battleships, three cruisers, and five destroyers. A sixth destroyer, the Abner, arrived from the vicinity in Nha Trang, as did four U-Boats. These forces converged in the waters outside Saigon by nightfall on the 22nd.

Admiral Heisenberg tried to seal off the Japanese with the cruisers while the lighter force stroke from behind. However, Nagumo sensed he was walking into a trap and decided to act with urgency. He pulled his ships together and rushed forward against one of the cruisers, the Sachsen. Overwhelmed by Japanese warships and with the other cruiser still unaware that the enemy was breaking out, the Sachsen opted to stay and fight rather than to try a potentially failed escape. Miraculously, the Sachsen was only relatively damaged, with an intense but short-lived fire raging in the stern. Once the Germans realized what had happened, they chased after the Japanese. Very critically, however, he delayed the chase to make sure the Sachsen was alright, costing the Germans precious time.

Nagumo and his men made it to the port of Kaohsiung in southern Taiwan. Initially, they were welcomed as heroes by the city's population and garrison. However, they were very soon arrested by the Army and sent back to Japan on the 24th. The Army issued a statement, saying that Nagumo and some other important collaborators were being charged with “sedition, gross dereliction of duty, conspiracy to commit treason, and for attempting against the peace”. The trial, known as the Seamen's Trial, was carried out by a military tribunal.

The trial was the most sensational and prominent in Japanese history. Often described as a “show trial”, it served to give the perpetrators a stage from which to proclaim their ideas. The caliphatists demanded their exoneration, with Okawa saying that doing otherwise would constitute “the greatest of faults” against “Allah and everything He is.” In their mind, Nagumo and the other accused were good Muslims carrying out an act of true gallantry in the name of Islam. People would cram into the courthouse and the surrounding areas, either to know every detail of the trial or to show their support for the defendants. After three weeks of legal process, the judge opted to deliver a one-year sentence to each of the accused, the lightest punishment he could issue. Immediately afterwards, he committed seppuku: ritual suicide.

Meanwhile, in Indochina, an inquiry was launched by the German Army. Hermann Goering was found guilty of incompetence and removed from his post, stripped from his Blue Max, and discharged without honors. He would develop an addiction to morphine and die of overdose, impoverished and alone, in 1936. Heisenberg was also investigated, but he was cleared of any wrongdoing by the Navy.

Escadia, commonly known as the Republic of Escadia, is a country in Europe despite geographically part of Northern America and is a federal parliamentary democracy under constitutional presidential republic. The country is composed of nine provinces stretching from North Point in the north to the Janovas and Windsor Bay in the south and from Rieberg Bay in the east Yarmouth Bay in the west, while also bordering Atlantic Ocean which surrounds the country's coastlines as it lies in the mid-Atlantic ridge. With an area of 264,541 square kilometres (102,139 sq mi), Escadia is the largest sovereign state in the entire insular Atlantic islands region, largest island on Terra, and the 7th largest sovereign country in the entirety of North America. It is the 36th most populous countries with an estimated 38 million inhabitants. It is the 6th most densely populated countries in the Insular Atlantic Region.

President Tim Kaine has ruled the country since the last election in 2016. The capital and the largest city of Escadia is New London, a global financial and cultural city together with city with one intergovernmental organizations with an urban population of 7.1 million people. Other major urban areas in Escadia includes Wesport, Los Benza, and others including Buckingham, New Alexandria, Chaperoux, and Lescogan.

Various indigenous peoples have inhabited the country long with the rise of East Brampton culture throughout the post-Neolithic and early Bronze Age that existed in 2100 BCE before the waves of Indo-European migration or migration from Americas where first peoples have long been overrun by Celts that caused collapse of East Brampton culture as archaeologists have theorized the collapse of Insular Atlantic civilization during the Bronze Age collapse. In the middle of Antiquity/Classical Age, the Vlirians have risen and has enjoyed contact with the Romans until natural disasters including first eruption of Mt. Howard have all but disappeared from historical records until Tariqua'ans have rediscovered and colonized the country until Viking invasion and isolation that rendered inacessible until the late 15th century. In the late 1490s, the Spanish explorer named Pedro Janovas and Matin Pinzon have established the settlement what is known as Villatoya where they used as stopover during expeditions to Americas and Spanish conquests while the French, led by Jean Cousin used what is known as Roisel, as a place of port during his explorations to North America and Insular Atlantic islands while the Hansa have established colony until French conquest in 1530. In 1510, the English have established series of outposts and settlements along the northwest coast of the country. What is now New London and Wesport turned into primary ports in between Escadia, North America, and the Insular Atlantic. Due to its location in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, the island became a major shipping and trade hub for transportation of goods between North America, Insular Atlantic Islands, and Escadia. However, the growth of settlements led to series of conflicts between the Spaniards, the French, and the native inhabitants.

Following the Seven Years' War as part of the Treaty of New London (1763), France and Spain has renounced all claims and control of their colonial territory Terrebone and Castelo which allowed the British cemented its dominance of Escadia along with neighboring Azoria which signaled the start of British dominance in the parts of Insular Atlantic region.

With the growing impact of American Revolutionary War that led to exodus of loyalists, the revolt of San Sebastian was brutally suppressed in 1784 that led to waves of migration to the penal colony of Australia where mutineers from Castelo has been exiled, which led to rising political consciousness among intellectuals including John Masters, William Baldwin, and Daniel O'Connell that continued in into the 1820s where inhabitants of Castelo, inspired by events of revolutions in Latin America, staged violent revolt which was put down by British forces until the Dominion of Escadia Act that led to provinces of New Britain (now Royal Center), Ashton, Westminster, Easton, Masset, Terrebonne, Yarmouth, Castelo, and Estcourt into federated into sovereign country.

However, the existence was questioned by events of labour strikes, rising republican movement, and violent revolt has put monarchy into question despite large majority are against adopting new republican constitution until the events of Second International War and the defeat of the United Kingdom at the Treaty of Berlin led to chaotic events of 1919-1936 where rising political rivalry went violent, strikes, and assassinations become common as it struggles through the post-sovereign independence not long until the rise of Arthur Walsh and establishment of strong relations between the United States has led to periods of stability and recovery even as the trauma of postwar led to referendum, ending its dominion.

In the mid to late 20th century, the country was experienced by economic boom as well as formation of North American and European Community that laid foundations into formation of Atlantic Union as the country looks increasingly influential and the growth of tourism as well as revival of industries, spurred by rise of IT technology and colonization efforts outside of Earth has led to participation of Project Tharsis, a joint international effort to colonize northern Martian regions that has very resource rich especially farming despite radioactivity that existed since the 14th century.

Escadia is a developed country, and has the 16th GDP nominal per capita income on the planet and consistently ranks 3rd on the General Development Index. Escadia has been ranked four in international measurements of press freedom, government accountability, civil liberties, moral freedom, access to healthcare, and quality of life. Escadia is a constituent member state within Atlantic Union, Iberophone Union, Francophonie, Commonwealth of Nations, and part of several major intergovernmental organizations such as International Union, Terran Nations, the G31, Finanzunion, Tokyo International Cooperative Union, the World Bank, and the Comecon.
