The three parties of the completely-different South ("Magnolia!" points out the MPLF...) as of 2120.

Magnolian People's Liberation Front/Frente Popular de Liberación de Magnolia
An unique Southern twist on communism, it is the dominant party in the Republic of Magnolia (which its Eternal Comrade named, declaring "the old South, that of racists, capitalists and slaveocrats, dead".) It is known that it rigs elections to benefit the MPLF, but the opposition are genuine and not puppets like in Poland. Its major base is with the poor blacks and Hispanics, which were the main revolutionary base during the North American War.

Alliance of Liberals and Democrats/Alianza de Liberales y Demócratas
The heir of the old Southern Liberal Democratic Party (merged with a liberal revolutionary organization, Freedom and Democracy), the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats are seen as centrist by most Southerners (which they are only in comparison with the radical MPLF). Its major base is within the poor whites and the aspiring working class. It sometimes gets the MPLF to back down from a somewhat unpopular decision. Aisha Tyson once said of them "they keep us grounded".

People's Party/Partido Popular
Conservatism finds its home in a party that declares itself liberal. But everybody knows it's actually the successor to the old tyrannical Conservative Republican Party, so not that much people go for them. Still, they have been eager to play up their liberalness, voting for liberal stuff a fair lot of the time. Their major base is within the white middle and upper class (which there aren't that much left of...). The Eternal Comrade said of them that they were "racist capitalists in liberal clothing".

Hey TB, I could look into making some Infoboxes for NY Parties. I'm Thinking Conservative Party (Right Wing Party) Progressive (Moderate) and Working Families (Left-Wing).

I've already decided those.

Progressive Party: Progressivism, Social democracy.
Established by State Minister Nikki Rosenberg just as the Americans retreated from Pennsylvania (confirming people's feelings the war was going to finish soon), as a "party of peacetime", this party struck a distinct left-wing ideology, sucking up most of the old Greens and some ex-PDPers.

Whig Party of New York: Center-to-center-right, Broad-tent.
The Whig Party is the successor of the rump Self-Defense League, and so have a nationalist tinge to it. Seizing upon the "Whig" label to keep both former PopDems and former IndReps on-board, it advocates centrist ideas and a "New System" for the independent New York post-war.

I assume Working Families joined with the Progressives then, Still, I not sure why there's the Whigs when the Conservative Party already exists.

A lot of stuff happens between now and 2120. New York even elected a Green governor. The Conservative Party died off in the 2020s. WFP absorbed into the growing Socialist Party in the 2050s. Here's a good comparison. Think of 1912. Think of how much changed in that time.

But the names stayed the same :p

Based off this project I did in the Alternate Presidents thread in Post-1900. Still development stage as I couldn't find a suitable logo yet, nor any local or state legislatures yet, and still working an ideology for them. This portion is the history of an American version of the Whig/Liberal/Liberal Democrat parties.

The 2010 New England federal election was held a year earlier than expected when First Minister John Kerry asked Viceroy Sir John G. Kirk to dissolve Parliament. Kerry would resign as party leader on the night before the election to take up his position as UK Ambassador to Mexico, and was replaced by Martha Coakley, who had been elected as a compromise candidate between Joseph P. Kennedy II and Shawn Graham.

Despite a relatively uninspiring campaign, which focused more on past Liberal successes than future promises, Coakley was able to secure a Liberal majority and avoid the need for continuing the coalition with the Progressive Democrats, who had distanced themselves from their time in the Kerry Government. The Conservatives lost a third of their seats, with leader Brian Lees resigning on election night, whilst the PDP, Progressive Conservatives and Greens all gained seats and the Reform party entered Parliament for the first time with the election of their leader in the typically safe Conservative riding of Beverly—Danvers.

The fact that the Liberals secured a (slim) majority with only 36.1% of the vote reignited the long standing debate in New England politics regarding electoral reform, with the smaller parties pushing for a move towards a more proportional system. However the Liberals and Conservatives have traditionally resisted such a change and as of 2015 the Liberal government has made no moves towards changing the system.
