Slavicization of Italy

Slavicization of Italy
The common name for the influx of Eastern European immigrants to Italy in the 90's, following the fall of the Communist Bloc. The rise of Xenophobic regimes in Germany and France prevented them from becoming popular spots for immigration, and the 1993 United States Economic Recession also scared away many potential immigrants.

By 2024, it is estimated that around 14% of Italy's Population is of Slavic Descent, down from the peak of 17% back in 2003.

Next: The Montreal Screwjob.
AH board slang for the Montreal Campaign of the Seven Years War, during which the British forces under the First Baron Amherst were mismanaged to an impossible degree. Their defeat in detail by the remaining French forces under the Duke of Levis not only prevented the capture of Montreal but up-ended the balance of power in the St. Lawrence Valley so much that the French were able to liberate Quebec the following Spring.

Crassus' Divi Filius

Crassus' Divi Filius
Marcus Julius Crassus famously saved the Roman empire from collapsing in 200 ad, resulting in his being worshipped as a god shortly after his death. But when Emperor Octavian II tried to declare himself a divinely conceived son of Crassus with no mother (an obvious reference/reversal of how Yeshua the Nazerene was seen as born, in a failed attempt to sway christians), the people of rome were angered and he was deposed. His reign ultimately lead to a quickening of the abandonment of Romano-Hellenic Paganism.

The Third World War began in 1983, and ended with a nuclear exchange between the Soviets. One state that emerged from the ruins of the United States was the Federal Republic of Appalachia, which led a very fortified hermit kingdom for decades. internally, the government took steps to sponsor a cultural renaissance, including publically broadcasted TV events, which were often shown at government run shelters and theaters across the Appalachians.

One very popular show was the 2000s 6 part television show Strange Case of Arcadia County, an explicitly post-Exchange story about lawman Kenneth Taylor (played by actor Steve Harvey), a Republic Ranger (the new federal investigative force) sent to the fictional Arcadia County to investigate a series of murders. There he meets a colorful cast of interesting and well acted characters and unravels a mysterious project going back to before the exchange. The show was immensely popular, and the character of Kenneth Taylor would go on to star in many other adaptations of various mystery stories both existing and original, becoming an American Sherlock Holmes analogue as the show was broadcast in other states across the former United States and Canada.

The nickname for a brief conflict between Germany and Italy - who had had long border tensions in the Alps - after a search and rescue operation for a lost hiker got mistaken by Italian border guards as smugglers bringing in illegal contraband. Things escalated for several days, and 27 people died, 145 were wounded and in the end, the United Nations slapped both nations with sanctions and fines to force a resolution, which was mediated by the Kingdom of France.

The War of Yankee Succession
The Republic of the Union of America, the Union of the Republic of America, the Republic of American Unions, the Union of American Republics, the American Union of Republics, and the American Republic of Unions were all United States successor states. Relations were good at first, but as it came time to determine who was the true successor to the United States, things got heated. Does the real successor need Cheyenne Mountain, the army's loyalty, the most nuclear weapons, Washington, D.C., the remnants of the government, or the most flags? War began -- the War of Yankee Succession.

The Spanish Thaw refers to the period between 1948 and 1956 when the Socialist Iberian Republic loosened the trade and travel barriers with the outside world, as well as made diplomatic overtures to end their isolated, pariah state status. Unfortunately, the Thaw was not popular with all elements of the ruling Party, and it was ended following a coup from radical elements in the party and the Revolutionary Guard. The SIR returned to it's isolated, cut off state for another two decades until the Third World War, during which the Italians and French invaded Iberia to "prevent America from Invading". This was seen as a paper thin excuse until 2013 when documents were unearthed from the Pentagon Archeological Dig showing that the American Dominate had been intending to invade Spain to use it as a Springboard against their French and Italian rivals.

The Lukewarm Peace

The Lukewarm Peace is used to refer to the truce between the Kingdom of Georgia and Ottoman Empire from 1605-1638. The Georgians had taken advantage of the Long War to try to reclaim Tao, Kars, Ani, Dwin, and Yerevan which had been lost to the Ottomans over the course of the 1500s. However Abbas’s sweeping gains and unrest in Ottoman Anatolia freaked out the Georgians. They agreed to a truce with the Ottomans. This involved near-continuous fighting of the Safavids as well as considerable Georgian gains as they operated on the principal that if they captured a city from the Safavids no need to return it to its prewar owner…There were actual clashes between Turks and Georgians during this period as well as various Georgian threats to switch sides... The Ottoman victory at Baghdad would make the Georgians side with the Safavids to limit Ottoman gains. This turned sour with the Ottoman-Safavid peace the following year and them agreeing to reduce Georgia to pre-war size. Georgia lost everything beyond the Lesser Caucuses and east of Tbilisi but the Ottoman Sultan’s murder in 1648 and the Mughal-Safavid War would result in Georgia ending up on top of the Caucuses by 1653 after 60 years of warfare.

The Cajun Genocide
The Cajun Genocide refers to a horrifying series of events done by the Confederate States of America starting from the late 1860’s onwards. As the CSA had struggled heavily to secure its independence, the government restored to heavy taxes, forced enscription, and other highly unpopular policies to prevent slave revolts. This led to quite a few revolts, especially in the Appalachian’s and the Cajun region of Louisiana. Enraged, the CSA government sent military units to brutally put down these rebellions, especially in Louisiana where the Cajun language and religion made them targets for a CSA sponsored ethnic cleansing campaign, which brutally reduced the Cajun population and culture.

The French-Protestant Delugue of 1666-1669

Propaganda piece from one of the Spanish court factions shortly after the ascent of Charles II. Overall the piece, "Why we should Fight" argued to retake Portugal, its colonies, and a portion of southern France south of the Garonne River along the west and line from just north of Toulouse to just of Montpelier in the east. Largely seen as a propaganda piece, it was later used as a proposal to give Spain compensation for its two decades of brutal occupation and later contributions to the Allies in the fight against infamous French Field Marshal Napoleon "Dynamite" Stalin Hitler three centuries later.
