Just wondering if anyone here has good line drawings of the LTV V-505?
Thats obviously based on the He 119 experimental high speed plane, which has only a single, "coupled" engine, how and where are you going to cram in another one of those huge things? The resulting drivetrain will also be awfully complex.Heinkel He-219 Reconnaissance Plane

Four engine counter-rotating prop design for a fast speed recon plane.
As you can see in the pic the plane has a second (set of) engine(s) behind the first but most contra-rotating props only have one engine so the second one isn't really necessary but I felt I needed to add something more to call it an alternate design.Thats obviously based on the He 119 experimental high speed plane, which has only a single, "coupled" engine, how and where are you going to cram in another one of those huge things? I think the 119 ist ultimately a plane not really suited for mass production even if the numbers required for a recon plane are propably not all that high.
The FDSL 151 makes for a suitable defensive armament if anybody would be insane enough to actually produce this monstrosity, but depending on the speed could also be ditched altogether. I never found data on how effective the things were in the first place.
Thats a lot of wing- and vertical stabilizer area for such a small fuselage, but still very cool!(I hope this comes through for everybody)
A What if model, combining the swept wings from an F9 Cougar with the gondola and canopy from a P-38.

Point defense Fighter ? Fuel would limit range. Looks like a good fit for a NBSG story though(I hope this comes through for everybody)

De Havilland DH108 Swallow gets build as a full-fledged RAF fighter? Or the RAF took a look at it's service record re:crashing and had the plane licenced out to Australia.(I hope this comes through for everybody)

It reminds me of of a Me-163 Komet(I hope this comes through for everybody)

How about this for a backstop? TL 191. The aircraft was designed to defend Singapore on 1943. Tested at Woomera.Same here.
This plane looks interesting(I hope this comes through for everybody)

That works nicely. How about this for a backstop? TL 191. The aircraft was designed to defend Singapore on 1943. Tested at Woomera.
Its got the same general lines with the very clean fuselage, comparativly large vertical stabilizer, gently swept back wings and "missing" horizontal stabilizer, but I think the nose is too different and the whole thing has to be nearly an order of magnitude bigger than the 163, the comet is positivly tiny.It reminds me of of a Me-163 Komet
It's also quite a bit sleeker than the Me-163 was.Its got the same general lines with the very clean fuselage, comparativly large vertical stabilizer, gently swept back wings and "missing" horizontal stabilizer, but I think the nose is too different and the whole thing has to be nearly an order of magnitude bigger than the 163, the comet is positivly tiny.
Fair comment. That's means that it could have carried more ammo or fuelIts got the same general lines with the very clean fuselage, comparativly large vertical stabilizer, gently swept back wings and "missing" horizontal stabilizer, but I think the nose is too different and the whole thing has to be nearly an order of magnitude bigger than the 163, the comet is positivly tiny.
