A preview of my new TL in development. The Vietnam War is in full swing, and it is a four-sided clusterf*ck.

Heres a map about an early Iron Age Israeli Empire, in which the kingdom of Israel gets a better run. Lighter shades of blue show tributary regions and areas of influence.

How do they beat the Egyptians and Sea Peoples, let alone the Hittites and Assyrians?

They are God's chose people. The Holy Spirit aided them.

What I had in mind was that a united monarchy somehow manages to use the Sea Peoples as mercenary units without much conflict between the two and in the coming decades effectively assimilate them, but not without absorbing the knowledge of phalanx warfare into the Israeli army (albeit modified to suit the Levant, meaning you get something of a cross between the Legion system of the Romans and the skirmish based army of the Near East at the time; possibly multiple tiers of armed units with at least one type of army unit like Post Marian skirmishers and another being heavy infantry.) Afterwords, contact with the Arabian tribes sets up a deal for nomads to patrol the roads and provide cavalry units in exchange for tribute which again get assimilated into the general military providing a good cavalry arm to supplement the infantry. Campaigns to the north and east allow Israel to fine tune their new military and develop a powerful armed forces. Attacking the Phonetician city states gives developments for better siege weaponry which stops Assyria straight in its tracks. Bereft of conquest, the Assyrians contract. Further expansion occurs in the decades that pass when Egypt collapses during a dynastic shuffle and the Neo-Hittites are simply taken out one by one. With all the major enemies effectively neutered or ended as a threat, the Israeli influence begins to spread. Its highly unlikely to be honest, but its a fun idea to think about imo

Another fershelugginer cover map, this time of a map by Sovereign12 in which Latin America, not Russia, was the initial wellspring of Communism, the French violated Belgian neutrality first in an alt-WWI, leading to a later UK entry and the US (concerned with Latin American revolutions) never entered at all.

Interesting map! I very much approve :D

I do however have two quibbles ;)

1) We do know from what little is shared, is that Mitteleuropa is ruled from Berlin and is a remnanant of the EU incorporating Northern France, Central Europe, the Low Countries and presumably Scandinavia. So perhaps showing it as more of a united nation/coalition would work?

2) Julian's dad became a war hero fighting in Panama... against the Brazilians. I think that indicates a Brazil which dominates most of South America (sort of akin to how the US dominates North America or Mitteleuropa Europe)

As for the rest, well outside of comments about Egypt and the state of affairs between China and Japan it's anyone's game but I love what yo did with it!

This is a cover of Thande's Entente win both world wars, itself a continuation of Alt-Reality's Alternate of an Alternate. I've gone with Thande's older version of the TL; a newer one can be found here. You can think of it as a "good" counterpart to Doctor Lexington.

Timeline-191: Gone Horribly Right

It is the year 2010, and the world is breathing a sigh of relief as the standoff between East and West winds down. The so-called Soft War has been going on since the fall of McSweeny's America and Hitler's Germany in 1944, when the Anglo-French and Russian portions of the Entente divided the world between them. Though allies for two world wars, the West and the Russians distrusted one another. The Russians remembered how the British and French fought them over Crimea, and their refusal to let Russia keep the Straits after the Great War reminded them of this. The British and French grew increasingly disgusted by Russian autocracy and militarism, though as the Tsar lost power in the 1960s and 1970s, relations between the two sides became better. The Confederacy remained unaligned with either side, preferring to dominate the North American continent without much interference.

The Western Bloc is the more powerful of the two opposing sides, and is led by the United Kingdom, the most powerful nation in the world. Britannia rules the waves, and its dominions, while practically autonomous, are still militarily tied to the UK and provide her with the finest army in the world. The UK is a parliamentary democracy, and is currently under a Labour government. Britain's premier ally, the French, is the premier power on the European continent after Russia. A democratic republic, the French are have been under the Social Democrats for the past decade. Two international organizations make up the core of the Western Bloc: the European Community and the Atlantic Defense Compact. The European Community is a supranational organization designed to promote peace and justice throughout the entire continent, and is particularly directed at ensuring that the horrors of Nazism never arise again. The Atlantic Defense Compact is a military alliance, including non-European members, designed to act as a united front against the Russian Empire.

The Eastern Bloc is dominated by the Russian Empire, which successfully conquered half of Europe and has the largest military in the world. The Russians bore the brunt of Nazi Germany's assault in Europe, and millions of their people died during WWII. Intending never to let themselves be attacked from the West, the Russians forged the Visegrad Pact, a group of allied monarchies carved out by the Imperial Russian Army. Russia has liberalized a lot in the late 20th century, and now the Duma can pass laws over the Tsar's veto. Russia's main ally, China, is not so fortunate. The Chinese Empire was founded by a Chinese army general almost as soon as the Japanese were expelled in 1944, and remains a brutal dictatorship. The Chinese filled the vacuum left by Japan, and their disagreements with Russia over spheres of influence in Korea may cause a permanent fracturing of the Eastern Bloc.

In North America, the Confederate States is dominant, though the British have significant influence. The Confederacy liberalized in the post-war years as a response to the horrors of McSweeny's America. Religious minorities are protected, as are racial ones, though not to the same extent. The Whig Party's dominance is still clear, though the Radical Liberals have won a few times throughout the post-war years. In a few counties, the white supremacist Freedom Party gets votes, though the Confederate government is moving to ban this Patriotist party.

Amazing map.

What are the names of *bootheel Missouri, *south Illinois, *south Indiana, and the duo-former West Virginia? Are Maryland and Delaware Confederate now?
