  1. German completely adopts the defensive September 1942

Nice use of the map from the Battlefield TV show. Sure don't make them like that anymore.
  2. Effects of CP Victory on China

Would serve Germany interests in this scenario to work with Japan. If they could pry them away from an alliance with England, that would work to their advantage when it comes to some kind of post-war naval treaty or in an naval arms race between England and Germany. England does have worldwide...
  3. RIKKO?

Thank y’all, way more informative than Google. I appreciate it.
  4. RIKKO?

I have thoroughly entertained by this website for years now. One question I have is, what does RIKKO stand for? I know it has something to do with land based aviation in an anti shipping role, but what does RIKKO stand for? Thanks for the help. Stymied in Texas
  5. Japanese Carrier Pilots Book

Just watched Tora, Tora, Tora and original and modern Midway movies and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for books on Japanese carrier pilots? Thanks for your time and help, I appreciate it.
  6. Would a quick CP Victory solve anything?

Would it mean that the Schlieffen Plan was validated? Would it make Germans think that quick, lightning style wars are the way to get things done? Would it spur them to develop ways to make war go faster? Seems like they might have learned some of the same lessons from a quick victory that they...
  7. What the odds that a third strike on Pearl Harbor. . .

Would Japan's better opening strike option have been to have a Midway-style battle first instead of launching the Pearl Harbor raid? Would that have been enough of a threat to get the American fleet to sortie and then destroy it in deep water.
  8. C# Developer looking for some ideas for a grand strategy game.

A game similar to Hearts of Iron but based around World War I time frame. Would start around 1910 and finish around 1930.
  9. Hypothetical Combat Slurs

Suppose the U.S. and the Soviet Union had actually fought in a World War III. Given the American culture's propensity for slang, stereotyping, and racial profiling, what slur or derogatory comment do you think American troops would have called the Soviet troops they would have fought? Also, what...
  10. Does A "Vietnam" Benefit a Nation?

Your comment on the U.S. is what I am talking about. Because of the loss and the impact of that loss on the American people during the 70s and 80s, I think it forced American leaders to review how they would fight in the future, i.e. no more conscription/all volunteer military, that wound up...
  11. Favorite WWII Aircraft

P-61, just looks menacing or B-25H with all of those extra guns
  12. Does A "Vietnam" Benefit a Nation?

In one of my random musing recently, I was questioning whether or not a "successful" nation must undergo its own version of a "Vietnam" in order to either stay "successful" or have its level of "success" increase? When I was thinking about this, I realized that there were about 50,000 plus...
  13. Is artillery too ordinary and boring?

Perhaps "man-powered" assault guns during the 19th century. I have always wondered why this wasn't even attempted. Basically I imagine a gun carriage with a splinter shield that several men could push towards enemy lines to help break up the ranks before charging with the bayonet.
  14. Worst Luftwaffe decisions

No intruder flights or dedicated ground attack aircraft
  15. Worst Luftwaffe decisions

A sound philosophy based on less Mercedes and more Volkswagen.
  16. Worst Luftwaffe decisions

No waserfall, more anti-shipping capability, Luftwaffe field divisions
  17. Anyone read the Red Gambit series?

Reminds me of Red Storm Rising, which has always been one of my favorite alt-history books. It reads very similar with multiple viewpoints but I also like how it diagnoses specific combat actions with maps and counters so you can follow as the battle as you read.
  18. Anyone read the Red Gambit series?

I just got my copy of the first book in the Red Gambit series and was wondering if anyone had read it yet? If so, what were your thoughts on it? Is it better than Turtledove's latest?
  19. Draka Game

Has anyone ever MODed or seen a MOD for a game like HOI or Victoria where someone has used the Draka series? If so, do you know where I could find it? Thanks.
  20. No Kaiserschlacht

I think that the Germans could have held until their Eastern treasure trove became available. The English were wanting no part of any offensives, especially after Paschendaele. They were beginning to scrape the bottom of the barrel in terms of manpower resources. The French were also adverse to...
