  1. HMS Belfast vs ARA General Belgrano.

Well if the Brits get to substitute a ship, it only seems fair to let the Argies do the same.
  2. HMS Belfast vs ARA General Belgrano.

Ah yes, suffering... five hits out of seven missiles launched inspires an undying confidence in the ability of the Royal Navy to deal with sea skimming ASMs in this scenario. Even if we ignore Conveyor a 42% hit rate equals three hits from the Escort Destroyer's Exocets, potentially enough to...
  3. Japan/US Cold War after World War II

At best, Japan would be able to maintain itself as a distinctly second tier power during the Cold War. Something in the same league as France or the United Kingdom, especially once the madmen in Tokyo murder much of the young population in a unending China War. Certainly not a third superpower.
  4. Can the NVAF do better in the air war ?

With what missiles precisely. To my knowledge the Soviet’s didn’t exactly have any ASMs at the time that could be carried by something smaller then a small airliner.
  5. HMS Belfast vs ARA General Belgrano.

Yes, but the Argies will finish up early after they pull a pair of Sheffields, at which point, if they have any missiles left, Belfast eats them.
  6. HMS Belfast vs ARA General Belgrano.

I'm going with "Mutual Kills" once the Argie escorts salvo off their own missiles.
  7. AH Challenge- After armistice day 1918, Britain decides on and sticks w/ a policy of lockstep cooperation with France?

More “a war with the soviets and a now eagerly communist Germany and a conquered and puppet Poland.”
  8. WI: France got the Saarland after WW1?

How do you solve the massive issue of "The German population doesn't particularly want to be French".
  9. What if the Daqing oil field started production in 1932 ?

To exploit it they would need Hughes drill bits. No one else in the entire world made suitable bits. And no, before you ask, they couldn't steal the drills, the NKVD tried, and failed, on several attempts. Nor could they buy the drill bits. You didn't buy Hughes drills, you leased them.
  10. Reusable N1 rocket

I just have the vision of one out of millions of critical parts failing and the first stage smashing into the landing zone like a bomb instead of settling gently. Look how long it took SpaceX to get the reusable part down, and then apply the usual Soviet shody engineering...
  11. Desert Storm without the "big six" and the RMA

    15% at the absolute most.
  12. Fate of Nazi Germany if Hitler takes over with a civil war

And nothing of value was lost.
  13. Red planet (What if the Soviets beat the USA in a race to mars?)

About the only scenario I can see that would result in sustained commitment by both sides to a Man on Mars race, would be Alien Space Bats. And that's clear, undeniable evidence that extraterrestial technology is just sitting around on Mars's surface, waiting for the first side to reach it and...
  14. Fate of Nazi Germany if Hitler takes over with a civil war

Oh I agree, there wouldn't be a war. A war implies either side has a chance to win. This would be a massacre. Of the Nazis.
  15. Fate of Nazi Germany if Hitler takes over with a civil war

One doesn't need to be particularly strong to beat a cult of personality whose major military achievement is lynching jewish shopkeepers. The Nazi Party at this point in time is a massive far cry from the beast it would become with the official reins of power.
  16. Militarily speaking, was there any way for the UK to win the Falklands war faster and /or with less losses?

Another broomstick lashed to the mast of another SSN. Less Sarcastically, unless the Spanish themed ASB converts one to three of the ITTL available gun cruisers to Russian style guided missile cruisers, it's not going to do the Argies any good.
  17. What if Canada got the Queen Elizabeth class ships it ordered

They either get scrapped to comply with the WNT or gifted back to the Royal Navy once Canada realizes it has no interest in maintaining three battleships. More interesting, the RN and RCN arrange for basically insurance fraud on the high seas to get a chance to build three brand new Treaty...
  18. Fate of Nazi Germany if Hitler takes over with a civil war

If the Nazi's try to take over Germany with a civil war... well their main fighting force are a bunch of blustering goons and a smaller group of military cosplayers. Vs an extremely competent and well trained Reichswehr. I don't see this really ending any other way then with the Nazi leaders...
  19. Larger Germany after WWII despite losing the war - How could this be possible ?

Have USSR/Allied relations deteriorate further earlier, during the war, combined with worse performance for the Red Army and better performance for the Wally troops in the West. Final border for the two ends up somewhere around the German-Polish border, with no talk of compensation for Poland...
  20. HMS Iron Duke and HMS Centurion in WW2

My understanding is the naval treaties specifically forbid sale to other powers as a means of disposal.
