"Boo!"

"Very well, no abortions for anyone!"

BOO!

"Hmmm, abortions for some and miniature American flags for others!"

HOORAY!

I almost made my sister choke to death by saying that while she was eating a piece of cake. Sometimes the "spit your food out" reflex misses a little x.x

If you combine the three leftist candidates you get 52 votes. That's one vote shy of Nixon's 53. Talk about pressure form the left for McGovern!

Being on the left instead of left of center :p

By that logic I can say Reagan, Romney, Nixon, Bush, etc. are not really conservative since they're not reactionary monarchist and essentially accept the Enlightenment/classical liberal values of Locke, Montesquieu, and the Founding Fathers.

I am thinking about the one TL I read that had McGovern winning. Nixon has to resign in 1971. The charge is bribery. It turns out he pardoned Hoffa in exchange for the Teamsters endorsement. In October 1972 President Agnew's tax evasion and bribery becomes public knowledge.
