And why not McGovern-he was pro-abortion, pro-ERA, and pro-feminist.

Pro-abortion? Oh yeah, I'm sure McGovern loved aborting fetuses. I'm sure he personally aborted a half dozen of them.

McGovern was a liberal yes, but he wasn't some sort of wild eyed radical, and by his own admission wasn't even a pacifist.

I'm pointing out the failings of communism with a little wordplay. Human beings are greedy and self-serving, not ants in a collective. Any sort of economic system needs to take this into condideration, as well as attempt to meet basic needs of all its constituents. Thats what the governments for, regulation.

Like a daily fiber suppliment. :D

To appease the Socialists

There you go.

Interesting how Jenness surges right after McGovern surges to a comfortable lead. Almost seems like co-operation of the center-left and left! :p

If there were any cooperation at all between the left and center-left here, then McGovern would have a lot more votes and Jenness a lot fewer.

Hell, if there was any cooperation between the left and the other left, Jenness (or Spock, or Fisher) would still be in the race. Leftist factionalism is so sad...

No, cooperation means they'd get together to support one candidate (preferably the most viable leftist candidate, McGovern) rather than shortsightedly spreading their votes all over the place and giving Nixon an excellent shot at winning the election.

Well, sure, but I'm accepting that for whatever reason, McGovern isn't acceptable to these people and only a true Socialist will do. There'd still be enough of them to at least tie Nixon at the moment.

Of course, I still think that if Spock had jumped out with the first-day momentum instead of Jenness, he'd be winning now.

The far lefties will only go for parties with "Socialist" or "Communist" in their name.

Unproven assertion at the moment -- we'll see what happens in '76 when the People's Party becomes the beneficiary of the gender-based identity politics that boosted the SWP this round.
