Battle of the Danube
The Battle of the Danube was fought in May 40 BC between Marc Antony and the Dacians.
In this campaign, the first use of what became known as the “Antonian method” was used, which involved fooling the enemy into thnking you had a larger force than you had, so that another one could sneak up behind the enemy. Antony would move to northwest Moesia for this. After crossing the Danube, he woudl meet about 22,000 Dacians. The battle proves inconclusive, and Antony withdraws to the bridge.
