This Poland was occupied by the Third Reich until the coup against Hitler in 1945. Poland was restored as a democratic republic, lost most lands east of the Curzon line to the Soviet Union, except Lemberg, and gained East Prussia, the eastern halfs of Pomerania and Silesia, and joined the EEC in 1963.
