A British left-wing newspaper which has a long-running feud with the Guardian, although to outsiders the two seem virtually indistinguishable. Some Americans have remarked that 'the Observer' and 'the Guardian' sound more like godlike beings who watch over the universe in comic books than the titles of champagne-socialist newspapers.

The Observer is noted for its obsession with proportional representation and Fairtrade products.
