Bristol
City (since 1155) and County (since 1373). One of England's biggest 3 cities until the Industrial Revolution and a major port even after that.
Home to Isambard Kingdom Brunel, builder of the biggest and best ships, bridges, railway tunnels, railway stations &c yet known.
Also home to the first Methodist Chapel; the port from which John Cabot sailed to reach Newfoundland and Canada in 1497; and the constituency represented by Edmund Burke.
