World War Z question

Any thoughts on who infected patient zero in the water? A Zombie or a virus-infected animal?

Some other zombie. It's made clear in the Survival Guide that the zombie virus has been around for basically as long as humanity's been around. WWZ was just the largest outbreak and the first time it entered the public conscious.

yeah, maybe it was one of the few specimen of zombies kept by chinese in that old city (maybe like japanese monk who fought zombies).

however this present a new question, if WWZ is linked to Survival Guide,
then why world governments react to late to the outbreaks

While their must have been a small group who knew about them I bet that the govermemts simply forgot

The last sighing is like a decade before the war and resulted in nothing with everyone believing it was a drunk

The implication is that there was a severed zombie head (with the brain intact) at the bottom of a lake near New Dachang, China that had gone unnoticed all these years. In the Zombie Survival Guide, Brooks actually writes that solanum reanimation only happens to humans.

The implication was something at New Dachang but you can't just assume that its that exact. Not that it matters.

IIRC there was a pacific island mentioned in the ZSG that was used for death rituals by natives, as witnessed by an explorers account. The dying would be left on the island and the Zombies would come and eat.
Well the ZSG strongly implies (pretty much outright states if my memory is correct) that the Japanese discovered this island during WWII and attempted to create an army of Zombie soldiers.
With their defeat the Communist nations became aware of this and attempted to do the same. After the fall of the USSR only China still actively participated in these experiments, the result being that it caused the outbreak at the stat of WWZ (hence why the Chinese tried to unsuccessfully hush things up at first).
