WI William Pitt the Elder was listened to by Parliament regarding the American colonies?

The American Revolution would have been headed off. The failure of the Lords to listen to Pitt is one of the great missed opportunities of history.

Or it, like the repeal of the Sugar and Stamp acts in 1766, would simply embolden the colonists later on, merely kicking the can down the road. Its more than a little naive to think that such a concession by Parliament would magically fix things and not lead to yet another confrontation.

Ah interesting. Went further than I remembered.
It's essentially devolution.
I suspect the Lords saw it would be really difficult to claw back those powers once granted.
It would certainly head off most dissent but might just postpone things a little. Especially if there's now a single subparliament for the colonies.
Look at Scotland today.
