WI: OJ Simpson Commits Suicide Before Trial

What if during the chase in his Ford Bronco, OJ Simpson does end up committing suicide before he is able to be apprehended by the Los Angeles police?

Then we would have no trial, tv mini-series, books, and the lawyers involved would still be nobodies today, especially since the case first established people like Marcia Clark, Darden, and on tv, Greta van Susteren and Nancy Grace.

How does the case go? Is there a post-mortem conviction in their reports?

Generally, if the defendant dies, there is no longer a case and therefore no trial. Posthumous convictions do not exist in the United States. (I'm not sure about other countries.)

At the time, a lot of people believed he was innocent. (I wasn't one of them, but I did predict he'd get off.) Ironically, even though he was found not guilty, the trial is what finally convinced most people he actually was guilty.

So, you'd probably still have a significant "conspiracy theory" community claiming OJ was set up and the "real killers" are out there somewhere.
