But if you would face a population that hates you and might start a guerrilla war, they might not be so keen on invading, but rather try to get the oil by diplomatic relations, and then slowly get the Indonesians follow you instead of the Dutch

Between a stronger submarine force and successfully blowing the dikes, how long could the Dutch delay the Germans in WWII?

If the Dutch TTL strong sub force participates in the Anglo-French operation in Norway, something tells me the Germans will be in trouble.

If the Japanese would worry about an aggressive attitude against their occupation they would have to react less brute in the OTL, so it doesn’t seems a point that wouldn’t be a reason for the Japanese not the start an invasion of Indonesia.
