Buchanan probably wouldn't become as popular as Nader was -- or could he? -- but the shift in support would just make the slightest difference, for Gore to take the election.
IOTL, he got the money to make his first documentary from a legal settlement while he was with Mother Jones. Did he have any drive for film-making prior to that?
Not sure but maybe that could be the POD, him moving to the right out of bitterness at Mother Jones and making right-wing movies to piss them off.
