Im usually not a fan of scenarios which involve a smaller Ottoman empire, but I am interested in finding out if there was any chance of Mehmed Ali keeping Syria (and maybe crete) after confrontation with the Ottomans and their European supporters, and what effects this would have on the development of both Egypt and the Ottomans throughout the 19th century. Would I be correct in thinking that maybe a scenario where the Europeans decide not to intervene in the conflict would be the main POD here?
