WI: Mary Tudor marries Charles V

She would only be four years older than him, so she would likely begin to be able to bear children earlier, plus there's no need to wait for maturity like there would be with the younger Mary. Plus they were OTL betrothed. What happens if this match pushes through, instead of her French match?

You need simply Charles deciding to not listen to his Spanish grandfather’s words (who called Mary an ”old maid” and threatened to replace him with his younger brother as his heir if Charles do not accept an engagement with the 3 years old Renée of France) to and follow his Aunt Margaret’s suggestion to keep his word and not insult their English allies. In OTL Charles delayed the match without setting a new date for the full wedding (Charles and Mary were already married by-proxy since before Henry VII’s death) and Henry reacted breaking the engagement and marrying Mary to Louis XII of France.

Or Fernando of Aragon to kick the bucket 2 years earlier than IOTL.

Spanish Cortes started with asking him to marry Isabella as soon Charles inherited that lands. If he has just reached his majority or not yet likely he would not be so able to resist to pressures

Well, IOTL he resisted for quite a long time, but idk Fernando can die like an half of a year before his OTL death date and that could be enough to make Charles-Mary match reality, wouldn't it?

If we're killing Ferdinand, may I suggest:
Trampling by horses?
Falling off a cliff?
Poison?
Starvation?
Juana bludgeoning him with a brick?
... A stray javelin?
I'm really not fussy!

So Charles sets a date for the wedding stat, they get married, she pops out a few kids, Ferdinand of Aragon is pissed but can't do shit, etc?

Well in theory he can name Ferdinand of Austria as heir of Aragon and can try to have him named as heir of Joanna by the Cortes of Castile….
If Ferdinand II can do it (and that would mean who Anne of Hungary would become Maximilian‘s fourth wife) would likely be better for every country as Spain and Burgundy do not benefitted at all from being under the same ruler

Interesting, he could TRY but that won't be likely. I agree that Spain and Burgundy should be separate but can you explain the Anne of Hungary bit?

There was an agreement made before Maximilian died that one of his grandsons would marry Anne of Bohemia and Hungary, as part of the alliance, if neither of them did, then he would marry her.

Well if Charles is left with the Burgundian Lands, the Austrian Hereditary Lands and the Empire, under such a scenario Anne of Bohemia & Hungary would become more interesting. Of course from the Burgundian perspective the English match is a bit better, but dynastically it isn’t.
