This is a rather interesting idea. I assume that this would cause also greater interest towards Hokkaido as a side-effect of this more northern orientation in culture.
Well, not that much more of "northern orientation", but we might well see more developed Japanese version of the "Western" (Or in this case Eiga Kita, as it would likely be referred to in Japanese.).
