WI: Irina Godunova becomes Tsarina?

What about an unusual alliance between Irina or Ksenia and say, Simeon Bekbulatovich, the Tatar Grand Prince of Rus'? I'm not sure how Simeon reigned, but could he have stayed long enough to form an alliance with the Godunovs?

Powerless figurehead. Tatar. Oprichina-era. Doubt he'll be popular.

Godunov managed to oust a complete (to that point) white knight like Shuisky, and ally with Patriarch Iov. That's gonna be a tough act to beat.

So in this case, Russian dynastic struggles would be downright nasty. Irina might have a chance if they could prevent False Dmitry from appearing on the scene, though there may be others.
