WI: Artaxerxes III not poisoned by Bagoas

In 338 BC, Artaxerxes III, one of the most successful King of Kings of the Achaemenid Empire in its later years, was poisoned by his vizier, a eunuch named Bagoas, along with much of his family. Bagoas subsequently raised Artaxerxes IV, one of the youngest sons of Artaxerxes III, on the throne, before poisoning him too. What if Artaxerxes III got wind of the plot, forced Bagoas to drink the poison, and survived? How would Artaxerxes III respond to Alexander? Could he continue a Persian resurgence?

No content bumps are against the rules.

Now, I remember a decent TL whose POD was Bagoas was forced to poison himself, its name was "Heirs of the Achaemenids" IIRC. Alexander ends up killed in Gaugamela ITTL and the empire survives.

Sadly, it's dead.
