WI Andrew Johnson is impeached?

Well, I guess since I am first to reply, I have to be anal-retentive and remind you that impeachment and removal from office are not the same thing. Impeachment is the indictment of an public official. Johnson was impeached but was came one vote short of removal.

A precedent would be set. Amendment XXV of the U.S. Constitution may define succession differently in the wake of this precent, assuming of course that this amendment will even be enacted in this TL. A more immediate ramification: U.S. Grant may never become President.
