What happens if the UK gets Catholic Emancipation when Ireland joins?

Let's say that when Ireland joins the United Kingdom in the early 19th century, Catholic Emancipation is part of the package. What effect will that have on the United Kingdom, and thereafter the British Empire?

This would mean the majority of Irish would look favourably on the Union from the beginning. That gives the union a much better chance of working long term.

How?

The Protestants would scream bloody murder and look at just how long and difficult it was OTL.

I seriously can't see it happening so early.

Bear in mind that it was proposed, but vetoed by George III. Have the 1800 assassination attempt spark off another bout of madness, and it may well be possible to push Emancipation through despite the obstacles.

Right. William Pitt had promised it, and most of parliament was a lot more liberal than him by this point.
