Back in 1992 a group of Vegas businessmen and casino owners were looking for a way to shift the attention of tourists away from the Vegas strip and towards the more neglected downtown. They approached designer Gary Goddard for ideas and he certainly had an ambitious one: Build a fully exploreble replica of the USS Enterprise.
At first Paramount was supportive and both the investors and the mayor of Las Vegas thought the idea was a great one. However at the last minute before the project was announced the CEO of Paramount backed out due to fears that if the project was a failure it would irreparably damage both the franchise and Paramount.
So, what if plans went ahead? In a best case scenario this becomes a hit. In a second worst case scenario the post 9/11 slowdown of tourism kills it. In an absolutely worst case scenario it lasts as long as Disney’s Galactic Starcruiser and somehow manages to kill Star Trek worse then Enterprise did.

STAR TREK Full-Scale USS ENTERPRISE Las Vegas
Plans for a full-scale model of the iconic STAR TREK USS Enterprise almost came to fruition in a Las Vegas redevelopment plan back in 1992.
