The shape of things to come

I have currently been reading a book called "The Shape of Things to Come" by H.G. Wells. I just wanted to hear some opinions about it. I think that it is interesting but I wish it hadn't been written by a guy who thought war only caused destruction and who could only bring about a world state by an uncurable plague that killed itself out.

The movie version from the 30s is good, though the sleeping gas that I remember them using was a bit farfetched.

Long after first reading that book, I finally discovered that Wells was an avid Socialist. It really didn't surprise me after reading The Shape Of Things To Come.

The 1930s film is indeed very interesting, although of course they had to change some concepts to bring it forward - instead of accurately predicting tanks, they accurately predicted space travel (well, more or less - they used a big honkin' space gun instead of a rocket, but don't tell me that the whole launch assembly doesn't look EXACTLY like a NASA one from thirty years later).
