July 20: Adolf Hitler is killed in an explosion in the Wolf's Lair, along with many military commanders. A new government takes power in Berlin with Ludwig Beck as President, and Carl Goedler as Chancellor.
July 21: Himler, leader of the SS, denounces the new government, and declairs war.
