Request Maps/Flags Here

I usually don't do maps but the flag business is pretty quiet right now.

So may I reiterate a flag request from earlier? Regarding the European Virginioist Union I proposed, it is that the seven "nations" (Portugal, Padania, (South) Italy, France, Spain, Euskara and Catalunya) are rather independent, but have a common foreign policy and the minimum of a national government. Only by an "European Workers' Committee" where the seven leaders hold a meeting, which is more akin to an EU summit than a cabinet meeting.

And I still love your secondary Virginioist symbol on the blue-yellow-green flag. What other ideas do you have regarding such a flag?

Is this good?
I do like it, especially the colors. But I was thinking something more secular, maybe no Sikh religious symbolism. It is for the Sikh empire.

(Also sorry for the late reply)

Aren't france, italy and spain a single country ?

Here's the blazon for an alternative flag: Gyronny of eight azure and gules fimbriated argent. Let's see who can make this first!

I’ve a query. What would a flag and/or banner for a civil rights campaign for an Indian minority employ? What colours are important, particularly to Hindus? The campaign is in a British North America, where Indian coolies replaced black slaves after slavery was abolished. That means the standing of blacks got a lot better, while Indians became the primary oppressed minority.

Saffron is the main Hindu colour.
Red is the colour of Radicalism - this became associated with Socialism.
So orange and red. Probably white added for contrast etc.
If we're talking 1800s then a triband with a slogan or emblem in the centre.

I see, huh. I think I can do something with that, here's some stuff I made on the fly. I've never made protest material before so this is rather new to me. Thanks man!

1. Just a regular triband, was probably an early design that became ubiquitous.

2. The same flag but with the slogan 'Shanti, Shanti, Shanti', written in English and Hindi. ITTL (which is a big ol' personal project) 'Shanti, Shanti, Shanti' is a common greeting, farewell and apology in general, although some Indians are ambivalent about non-Indians using it.

3. Square banner protesting the self immolation some Indians have resorted to to protest their mistreatment. The verse in Hindi is from the Rig Veda and is actually against self immolation, but it's often misinterpreted in the other direction; here the same thing is plausible, either as a 'pro-immolation' or 'anti-immolation' banner. In any event it's to drive home the point that Indians have been driven to burning themselves to get the government's attention.

4. Discoloured and defaced Union Jack, with the same slogan. Popular among younger Indian protesters who want to be both British and Indian.

@HowAboutThisForAName very nicely done!!
I was thinking the red and orange might be inverted.
If we go by the usual British tricolour -

- the Brit Rep flag would probably be the North American protest flag (like OTL Canadian/Ontarian Republicans). Then the green would get replaced by orange/saffron.
Like OTL suffragettes there's probably vertical variants too.

Would someone be able to take the seal of New Mexico, and change the state to "Yucatan" and the year to "1882"? It's for a timeline I'm working on. I have the interior changed already, but don't have a program that can write text in a nice circle like state seals.

Thanks!

Hey, so does anyone have that one OTL 2017 Worlda where like only the five or six countries are colored and the rest are gray and have internal divisions? May i have it please? I can't find it anywhere.

Well... it's more a federation with a relatively weak, but existant, national government.

in that case, would they count as 3 members or one ? from the perspective of the other members, the former might feel like giving 3 votes to what is, from a certain perspective, a single entity. Since there aren't that many members, this would be quite problematic as the federation would only need to convince a single other member to have a majority.

a number of flags OTL began as protest / resistance movement flags so that's quite plausible as far as origin are concern. Also, if the movement arose in the 19th century, a simple triband would be easy to produce by individuals since all you need is to sew together 3 bits of scrap fabrics.

maybe it make more sense in context but that seem like an odd choice for a revolutionary slogan.

I think the design would be too complex as a symbol for a popular 19th century movement. You could use a stick figure instead or keep the flame only.

4. Discoloured and defaced Union Jack, with the same slogan. Popular among younger Indian protesters who want to be both British and Indian.

While there are a number of modern day movement and minority group who use this sort of design, in the 19th century it would be problematic as it would be more likely to be perceived as an insult to the british flag than anything else.

Worse, the use of Union Flag by individuals is a fairly recent phenomenon and a few cases are known of private citizens in the victorian era who tried to display their patriotism by flying a flag being harassed by police for "attempting to impersonate a government official". While judges normally sided with the individual, this could be too easily used as an excuse to disperse a crowd of protesters even if the flag was modified.
