Quayle: A collaborative TL

March 5th, 1990:
Two hardline Communists from Soviet Ukraine assassinated President George H.W. Bush as he gave a speech in Boston. Vice President Danforth "Dan" Quayle is sworn in.

Note: Try and keep this TL plausible. No random assassinations, deaths, ASB events, etc.
 
March 10th, 1990:

Dan Quayle, Mikhail Gorbachev, and the entirety of Congress are killed after the Capitol building is hit by a meteor. At the same time, the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts, destroying the West.

(HA! Just kidding)

March 6th, 1990:

President Quayle calls the assassination of late President Bush "a tragedy" and pledges to bring the people who did this to justice.

March 15th, 1990:

One of the men who assassinated Bush is revealed to be one Vladimir Brushcov. He is found on the border of New York attempting to flee the nation.


 
March 20 1990:Official state funeral held for George HW Bush is held.

Former presidents Carter Nixon Ford and Reagan speak along with President Quayle.
 
July 25, 1990 - President Quayle appoints Clarence Thomas to replace the late Justice Brennan on the Supreme Court.

October 9, 1990 - Having been confirmed by the Senate, Justice Thomas assumes his seat on the bench.

July 1, 1991 - President Quayle appoints Edith Jones to replace Thurgood Marshall.

September 17, 1991 - Justice Jones assumes her seat on the Supreme Court.

EDIT:

November 2, 1990 - Margaret Thatcher narrowly survives a challenge by Michael Heseltine, winning by the bare minimum of votes required.

November 6, 1990 - The US midterms occur, and result in a small pickup of a seat in New Jersey for the GOP along with retaining their Minnesota seat for a net gain of +1 (46 R to 54 D). In the Gubernatorial elections, the Democrats make a pickup in California with Dianne Feinstein defeating Pete Wilson but the Republicans are able to strike back with Clayton Williams defeating Ann Richards in Texas.

April 4, 1991 - GOP Senator John Heinz III has an uneventful flight, returning home to his wife Teresa Heinz later that day.
