A map of labor camps along the path of the construction site for the Danube-Black Sea Canal. Construction began in early 1946 at the order of Ion Antonescu, with a labor force consisting of POWs, political prisoners and common criminals taken from Romania's jails. Not long after, Antonescu's government press ganging gypsys into working on the canal. Construction equipment brought in from Germany helped ensure the canal's completion by 1952. The high death toll incurred over the course of construction, with some estimates reaching as high as 20,000, earned the canal the name 'the long graveyard.'

Female students at a high school in Kunming speaking to a former Karen refugee attending the same school, 2018. Southern China took in a large number of refugees fleeing the Burmese junta before its fall in 2011. By then, tens of thousands of refugees had crossed into the country. By the beginning of 2020, those who had come to China as children had more or less assimilated into their new home.

Korean resistance fighter with a silenced pistol shooting at a Japanese colonel in Wonsan, 1945. As Japan's defeat drew ever closer, attacks by Korean resistance fighters became more and more brazen, with outright rioting taking place in Pyongyang, Pusan, Seoul and smaller towns throughout the peninsula. By April 1945, such groups were actively aiding American paratroopers and commando teams sent to cause havoc before the arrival of the bulk of American forces sent to Korea.

Hyderabad Razakars during review parade, 1949. The Hyderabad State Forces fought a four year war with the Republic of India before the princely state was finally overwhelmed, being spared from the full brunt of India's military due to New Delhi being engaged with Maratha and the Tamil Republic at the same time. The conflict in India following its independence deeply unsettled the US, UK and China, who feared that the situation could be manipulated by Germany or Italy for the purpose of ensuring that a fascist government took power. Such a possibility pushed the US to provide the Indian military with both supplies and advisors.

Spanish soldier in Morocco firing on insurgents attacking an outpost near Ifni, 1951. Franco's government consolidated its hold on Morocco as the Second World War progressed, much to the anger of the native population. For the remainder of Fascist rule in Spain, the Spanish army was engaged with the Morocco Liberation Army.

The Union state of Norway is a Fascist military Junta led by Orvar Saether and his Hirden paramilitary. He came to power after Quisling's government collpased in 1952. Under Saether, Norway has been transformed into a complete military government as all civilian and adinstrative bureaucrats and politicans have been purged and replaced with loyal militarists. 'Order through militarization' has been achieved successfully.

I need a recap. Is China ruled by the KMT? And why is there a Sino-Vietnamese War ITTL?
Yes, China is under KMT rule. And the Vietnam War in this timeline is caused by the Chinese invading Vietnam in order to dislodge the communist government. However, the Chinese fail and the war-weariness among the Chinese populace gives the pro-democracy movement a massive push.

SS Standartenfuhrer watching Hitler's casket being taken from the Volkshalle. At the end of the two week period where members of the public could view Hitler's body in the Volkshalle's rotunda, the coffin was taken to Berlin's Central Station in a grand ceremony before brought to Hitler's tomb in Linz. After the fall of the Third Reich, Hitler's body was cremated and its ashes scattered into the Baltic Sea.

So what happens after the KMT pull outs? Vietnam falls to socialism just like OTL?

As far as I can understand it, yes. The Communists gain a lot of public support by showing they can defend Vietnam from outside forces and it builds up their legitimacy. Being beaten by the Vietnamese helps turbocharge dissident movements in China to the point that the KMT regime is pretty much in a no win situation. By the early 1970s, the Chinese people are sick of war. From the 1920s and all the way to the 70s, the Chinese have been fighting nearly non-stop. Either the KMT gives up its dominance peacefully or they risk being ousted.

Communist, KMT, or no, Sino-Vietnamese rivalry does not end there. Who is supporting the Vietnamese Communists?

"We need not look abroad to see the foul specter of Nuremburg, for it casts its ugly shadow here in America! It is in our grocery stores, our schools, our movie theaters, our hotels and even our cemeteries! Whenever you see a sign, a notice that reads "Whites only," or "no Jews allowed" you will see one of Nuremburg's many haunts in our great nation!"-
An excerpt of Dr. Martin Luthor King Junior's 1957 "Specter of Nuremburg" speech in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. King had built a large following among Polish immigrants in the city, many of whom were refugees who first fled to Britain before coming to America.

FBI agent Lucas Bracewell, 1962. Bracewell was the first FBI agent to uncover possible coordination of Ku Klux Klan and other white supremacist organizations by German intelligence for the purpose of orchestrating civil unrest and sabotage of defense infrastructure. His findings influenced the FBI and Defense Intelligence Agency into forming a tenuous alliance with the Civil Rights Movement.

George Lincoln Rockwell visiting supporters in Maryland, 1954. Rockwell had a pirate radio broadcast in operation from the 1950s until his arrest in 1965. In his broadcasts, he lauded the Reich as "an example who what the white man can achieve when he unburdens himself from the corrosive influence and dead weight of morally destructive groups." He became a wanted fugitive when he began trying to discourage young white men from enlisting in the army during the lead up to Operation Flood and afterword.
