PC: Anglo-French proxies wars in Africa

Had Britain adopted a policy similar Francafrique to former African colonies.
Could Britain and France end up in a pseudo-cold war backing various proxies against one another to expand their influence.

What areas could be proxy conflicts other then the Nigerian civil war.

How would this impact various African conflicts.

Would this type of competition effect their relationship in Europe.

If Britain adopted a sort of "Anglofrique", I doubt they and France would allow each other to fight each other. They'd probably work together to keep the region divided and under proxies and puppets so the local Africans couldn't get the proper representation they deserve. Since this is in Post 1900 I assume everything up to decolonization is the same, you could maybe have this if you prevent the rise of Germany or the Anglo-German rivalry, ensuring that France is Britain's only colonial opponent
