Nice Reference Site(s)

Although not really blueprints, this site has a metric arsetonne of profile and front view images for all sorts of planes, trains, automobiles, tanks, boats, and other whatnot. Probably good stuff for you guys who like to enter vehicles in the "weapons of war" thread.

I hope this doesn't count as bumping a dead thread...

NNDB

A site that gives some brief descriptions of famous people (race, gender, religion/lack thereof, sexuality, etc.) as well as a brief biography of the person in question as well as their family members; it includes everyone from royalty to politicians to musicians to actors. It also has the nifty feature of being able to track connections between people, sort of like a more global version of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.

Should be useful for some, at least.

Excellent, Doc! I've just forwarded that list to Mum. It should come in handy with her genealogical studies.

Swing batta, batta, batta!!!!!

Yes...its.....historical baseball links!

Everything and anything New Orleans Baseball including cool old pictures, a TL, articles, very nice site.

The (Un) "Official" site of the long dead Southern Association which operated from 1901 to 1961. features records and some links to old teams in Shreveport, New Orleans, Mobile, Memphis Atlanta, Birmingham, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Little Rock, Macon, Montgomery, Nashville, and Selma.

John Skilton's Baseball Links will take you more places than you would think possible to go on teh webs

Today in baseball history....fairly self explanatory ;)

Comprehensive history of baseball in Wilmington Delaware

Quick and easy list of teams (both current and historic) in various cities with founding dates, where they came from, when they folded, and an occasional link. Doesn't appear to be complete but its got a ton of basic dates and data.

Historic Baseball has all kinds of good links, articles, photos. Very concise and informative, especially of basic NL and AL history.

Baseball in Wartime chronicles baseball in WWII

A site dedicated to the old AL Washington Senators team that eventually moved to Minnesota (but not before winning a world series title in the 20's). Kind of all over the road but it has some fun photos and facts.

Awesome site dedicated to the old Philadelphia Athletics before they moved to Kansas City and then Oakland but containing tons of old pics and old baseball information in general.

Ball Parks of Baseball has tons of info and pics from current, past, and future baseball stadiums. Includes minor league stadiums and links to nba, college football, and nfl stadiums.

And finally, no list of historic teams would be complete without the requisite Brooklyn Dodgers link

One site that I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned yet (unless a quick search deceives me) is the Prosopography of Anglo-Saxon England at http://www.pase.ac.uk/jsp/index.jsp, which is intended as a comprehensive list of every recorded denizen of pre-Norman England.

If that isn't cool and/or useful enough, my main reason for posting it here is that they have recently gone live with a searchable and mappable version of the Domesday Book at http://domesday.pase.ac.uk/.

It's not the most user-friendly site ever, but if you want to know who owned your local ancestral village in 1066 and who had stolen it by 1086, and see what else that particular evil land-grabbing Norman had purloined plotted on a map, it's rather pleasing.

The Avalon Project

A rather extensive collection of documents in law, diplomacy and history. Pretty much every treaty since 4000 BC can be found here, along with all kinds of charters, grants, statutes and the like.

Just found a huge collection of (small) photographs related to the Paris Commune. Hundreds of them, though, so they may be useful. They can be found here.

Here is the index to a historical atlas published in 1820 which gives a series of maps and overviews of different countries, statistics on their populations in 1820 and so on. Even timelines of history. Should be very useful for anyone doing a TL set in this period.

What I find greatly amusing is that while the original atlas was British, this is an illegal American print that has been very obviously edited in places to give a less pro-British view than the original. This, for example, is their view of the character of the English people :D
