Second entry of mine, both times as the beginner. Here we go.

The following map is based on an election campaign billboard by the CDU and CSU parties for the first West German elections. It should be pretty self-explanatory.
It plays in the world of the indie game "Papers, please", but about a decade after the events of the game, not unlike the scenario of a rather recent poll at this board.

The SDSA translates as the "Freedom and Democratic Party of Arstotzka" and it's rumored that EZIC is a main supporter of said party. This map essentially shows the irredentist claims against Kolechia that EZIC does (and by extension the SDSA at least pretends to) lay claim to for Arstotzka. All three Arstotzkan cities that issued passports are depicted here with the major difference of the two Grestins being united. Vedor is also a city issuing passports, but in Kolechia, of course.

Note that I essentially wasn't insane enough after all to make Arstotzka lay claims on a canonically not existing country to its east that could likely have been christened Molvania, but this would have meant tensions with canonically stable and peaceful Obristan and I disliked merging two universes.

A relative quicky this time due to time constraints.

The administrative history of Britain goes pretty much as OTL until the 1960s, where among other changes the border of County Durham is extended south to include the town of Richmond. 5 years later, however, a Redcliffe-Maud equivalent is implemented and around a third of the county is included in the new neighbouring counties.

This was, of course, controversial and what we see here is the True Palatinate Campaign (somewhat similar to the OTL Association of British Counties) seeking to reinstate the 'traditional' borders of the County Palatine- including the southern part of the Honour of Richmond not joined with the county in 1963 and all lands that were at one point ruled by the Prince-Bishops.

During the late 19th century, the aging Abbysussian Empire is in steep decline. Ever since it's inception almost more then 900 years ago, the dynamics and etnicities have shifted over time. Especially the Slavic Cappedonians have developed a distinct
identity. So Emperor Karl XI introduced a Reichsreform, merging, splitting the old stemprincipalities along ethnic lines. Thus Translyvonia and Slovosk became the Reichsland Cappedonia. A name borrowed from the early dark ages, when it was
a formidable state. Some disgruntled politicians demanded the inclusion of all Cappedonian people into the newly formed land and full independence because according to them, the oppressed people of Cappedonia were tired from Germanic
hegemony and longed for a place to call their own. Thus the Cappedonian National Congress was formed. It was originally intended to acquire the territory needed trough peaceful means, which worked for a short period of time. The
Emperor even granted The Cappedon Free State. But he wouldn't secede the provinces of Ostmark and Südenland which he regarded as Germanic. Upon this the radicals of the party formed armed branches of the party. For over a decade
they targeted military and diplomatic points of interest all across the empire. In an ill advised attempt to quell the unrest's, the emperor himself traveled to Prajevitsa to meet several members of the CNC to negotiate a armistice.
He never arrived, Karl XI was assassinated by member's of the CLA, when he entered Prajevitsa. His successor Heinrich III, declared martial law in all affected area's and send in his military. During a peaceful protest in Yaroslavl, The army
fired upon the crowd, forcing the CNC to take action and declare independence. After several defeats, the CNC called in the Romanovian Empire (because they where considered to be the protector of the Slavic Peoples) and with their help
the war was won. The Abbysussian Empire was disbanded and Cappedonia got it's independence. The dream became reality.

After Plantagenet's victory during the War of French Succession (Hundred Years War OTL), the newly formed Dual monarchy was greatly in debt and the political situation wasn't stable on the continent. After the accession to the throne of Richard II, son of Edward IV “Black Prince”, in 1401, peasant and nobiliary revolts broke out in France and especially in the southern part of the country. Led by a so-called descendant of Raymond IV of Toulouse, the rebels crushed the anglo-french army, took Carcasonne, Toulouse and started to siege Bordeaux. In the meantime, the situation in the Borders degenerated and led to a Scottish attack. Not being able to manage two wars, the Dual Monarchy granted a very large autonomy to the southern rebels: the duchy of Toulouse was born again.

During the Early modern period, the region was under strong franco-english influence but stayed independent. On the other side of the Pyrenees, the kingdom of Aragon lost his west half and the region of Valencia to the Castillan crown but kept Sardinia.

At the dawn of the 19th century, pan-occitan movements started to appear on either side of the Pyrenees. In 1876, Valentí Almirall, Prime Minister of the Catalan Republic, with the help of Portugal and the Dual Monarchy and after the victorious battle of Alicate, obtained the recovery of Valencia. The same year, republican and pan-occitan riots broke out in the duchies of Toulouse and Provence, causing the end of the monarchy and the proclamation of the ephemeral Republic of Toulouse. The year later, at the Conference of Perpignan, the two republics united and formed the Occitan Federation.

Nevertheless, the pan-occitan dream wasn't complete for some, and nationalist leaders wanted to take the terres irredemptes of Aquitaine, Limousin and Aragon.

The Tanks represent armies, ships represent naval squads, the year is 2014.
both states are more populous and militaristic than OTL, and both are nuclear armed. the line of control is roughly between the towns in the disputed zones. Kita speaks Japanese and has a population of 22 million.

little bit of history for you lovely people. Japanese victory in 1942, peaces out of the second world war after an invasion of northern Australia, then settles its new land with 'willing' colonists from japan and the co-prosperity sphere, with the latter going through a significant Japanese re- education. After the momentous collapse of the sphere in 1983, the colony declared independence, taking control of Japanese nuclear weapons and re-asserting its claim on the 3 northern territories of the now Royal commonwealth, A claim not really pursued by the Japanese.

Take Matthew White's fascinating (if tragically unfinished) Medieval America. Now, wait around for ~400 years of technological development. What do you get? Steampunk balkanized America! This is a political poster from a far-right nationalist party in the Kingdom of Ohio, who recently lost a war against a coalition of Iowa, Tennessee, The United States (Baltimore), and the Detroit Union. And yes, the poster is bilingual. The Patriot Party doesn't give a rat's ass if you speak Ohioan (Midland American isolated for about 300 years) or Amischprak (Pennsylvania German with heavy Ohio influences), just as long as you hate foreigners.

I'm actually a little proud of this one, unlike my first MOTF submission. Virginia is ruled by a nasty strain of fascism that retains the trappings of democracy. They've been talking for a very long time about "Taking back the northern half of the Ohio Country*" and "Securing access to the Mississippi." The act mentioned in the map, however, made such talk official government policy by incorporating it into their constitution.

*The entire Old Northwest is known as the Ohio Country in Virginia.

Hi, posting my first entry in the MoTF.

The POD for this map is Stepan Patrichenko's Kronstadt Uprising holding out for enough time until some other members of the Mensheviks and SRs also rise up outside Kronstadt and are able to take Saint Petersburg. After a short civil war, the new government of the Union of Sovereign Socialist Soviets (USSS), allowing freedom of expression throughout the left, took over the whole nation. One of their first acts was establishing a Volgaic Socialist Federal Soviet (SFS) made up of the previous Bolshevik-administrated Mordvin, Mari, Udmurt, Chuvash, Tatar and Bashkir ASSRs.

The increased democratic tendencies of the USSS in comparison to those of the USSR lead to several butterflies during the history of the 1900s, such as the reduced Russification of the republics, lighter treatment of the USSS, which leads to higher trade and thus less deaths during the starving periods in the 1930s, Russia doing slightly better in the Second World War, and many others. However, the main change relevant to this is no Russification of the minority regions, and a large exodus of ethnic Russians westwards during the 1970s on. The USSS still collapses in the 1980s after a series of downturns of the centralised economy, and the larger amount of minorities in the Volgaic SFS makes it a prime candidate for independence. The Russian Federation splits in two, a Western, European federation and an eastern, Siberian centralised republic, as well as a Komi Republic that really only exists because neither of the two others wanted it.

The newly-born Volgaic Federation was one of the first nations of the former USSS to establish free elctions, starting in the 1998 election. However, an ugly byproduct of the large political freedoms is the rise of a right-wing, nationalistic party, the Volgaic People's Party, which demands the "rightful restoration of our God-given Volgaic provinces" from Russia and Siberia. They rose quickly, beating the Communist Party of the Volga in local elections in 2002, going into the Soviet in 2006, gaining almost two million voters in 2010 and, after economical downturn hit the Federation in 2011, is likely to gain third-party status, with voter intencion just one or two points behind the current ruling party, the Labour Party.

This is one of the electoral posters of the Volgaic People's Party for the elections coming this June, after being translated to English and digitalised.

This map shows the territorial aspirations of an Ottoman Sultan in 1700, after an early win at the Siege of Vienna and other military and cultural advances has left him with a bit of an inflated ego.
