The Moderated Games Board is normally considered a place where a select group of users run their alternate history or ASB nation games. Most of them have been quite successful, while others...not so much.
However, almost every game that MG has played produced a huge multitude of maps and graphics, ranging from mock propaganda posters to in-universe advertisements.
Therefore, I've decided to make a thread here, to showcase the serious creative endeavors coming out of MG. Me and other MGers have noticed that when MG maps and graphics are posted here sporadically, people are usually confused on where they came from, or do not understand the IC context. This can be solved with a dedicated thread such as this one.
Hopefully, this will introduce users on this site to TL's and alternate worlds they might not be aware exist on this site.
I'll start with some of my work and graphics from two games: Rebirth of Nations and Roaring forward.
Perhaps more importantly, both games how a group of people can create a shared narrative and history of an alternate world and make it come alive with posts and graphics, the essence of what the MG board is all about.
If this peaks your interest, go ahead and visit Shared Worlds. MG welcomes new players with open arms.
Other MGers and NGers are also welcome to post their own maps, posters and assorted graphics here.
Rebirth of Nations was one of the longest and intensive games MG has ever played. It is also my favourite. The concept of the game was a Peshawar Lancers-style meteor storm leveling most of the Northern Hemisphere in 1863,
resulting in a mass flight of Europeans to Africa, South-America and Asia. 40 years later, we had Neo-Aztecs in Mexico, a British Empire based out of Australia and a European Union (the Banner Union) whose culture was based on survival Christianity.
The game lasted until 2020 and saw the rise of a three-way cold war between Maxalist Fascists in the America's, Liberals in Africa and Oceania and Communism in Eurasia. Technology developed into a Jetsonpunk direction,
a 1950s vision of the future, with particle beams, underwater cities, space colonies and flying cars being common, while computer tech lagged behind considerably.

A few years ago, Promethean created this excellent tribute to the game, which I used to make my own tribute to the game.
This map and my tribute have been posted here before, so it might be familiar to some.
I will not post the images of my tribute here, because they're bloody huge . Instead I've added them as links below

MG has attempted to revisit the world of RoN on several occasions. One such attempt resulted in the propaganda posters you see below.
The first was made by TheShah, while the other was made by me.
The flag is also TheShah's creation. Both are supposed to be propaganda posters from the Centralized Californian Union, a major fascist from the Maxalist bloc.
While Maxalism was not particularly racist, the Californians were however quite interested in cleansing its territory from Asians and Communists, who were regarded as sub-human.
Roaring Forward was another cool game, made possible with Fenwick's excellent role as Grand Mod. While there was no specific POD, the game started with an alternate WWI, which shook up the world we had populated with our nations. As it was part of the game premise, the results of this WWI were decided by dice rolls. Fenwick provided these excellent animated maps of its progression. Naturally, some nations won, while other nations lost.
From what I remember, the great powers prior to WW1 were the Commune of Paris, a socialist state somehow managed to create an ideological justification for controlling France’s former colonies.
It was opposed by an enlarged German Empire that was allied with the Italian Empire.
The Russian Empire, deeply concerned with rise of Germany, was in an alliance of convenience with the French.
I can’t remember the state of affairs in the America’s or Asia.
The first few years of the war saw Germany making gains against France and Russia (with some difficulty). After a few years of war, both sides approached potential allies. Byzantium, a third-rate power (my state) joined the Italian-German alliance, though only after the Italians admitted on paper that Constantinople was the best Rome.
Victory would ultimately belong to French and its allies, though all the major nations of Europe saw massive upheavals as borders were redrawn and radicals rose to power.
For example, my Byzantium for instance, lost Greece and other territories, a difficult pill to swallow, however I rolled with it and used it to explore my idea of a communist Byzantium. Commies took over Constantinople and the rest of the Empire, leading to the establishment of the United Rhomanian Socialist Republics (URSR).
In the rest of Europe, France became increasingly authoritarian under an ATL Rosa Luxemburg, the French Iron Lady. Perhaps the most interesting development was in Germany, which also gradually turned to socialism, creating a new understanding between Paris and Berlin.
Russia however, saw the rise of totalitarian theocratic fascism, deeply fanatical and extremely opposed to Communists, who needed to burn, along with undesirables, atheists and other heretics and heathens.
On a different note, China also went commie, under its own flavour, Equalism, led by the masked leader Amon.
The 1930 and early 1940s saw continued radicalization as Berlin (supported by France). Stormclouds gathered. Germany made the first move, starting WWII, coming into conflict with Russia, which was expanding its ideology to Eastern Europe. At the same time, I as Byzantium tried to conquer Greece and got involved in a war with Russian-backed Hungary.
Some graphics from 1920s-1930s of this game, courtesy of Fenwick. Yes, the URSR demolished A LOT of ancient historical buildings to make tractor factories. The Hagia Sofia was turned into a Palace of the People sorta thing with Communist icons

WWII ended in favour of Russia and its allies. A rump Germany was saved by France. Together with Spain, the two countries united rebranded themselves as EuroCom, a communist union spanning most of Western Europe. A display of nuclear force against the Russians (who had also developed nukes) forced the end of WW2 and started the Cold War.
Russia reorganized the territories of Europe now under its control, while EuroCom used diplomacy to gather fellow socialist allies under the Com system. The former French African territories were reorganized along cultural lines (ArabCom, SahelCom, AfriCom), divided into a great multitude of ethnic sub-communes and cooperatives. In Asia, the communist states of India and China formed a very loose AsiaCom. In the America's, a pacifistic left-wing Mexico became AmeriCom.
As Byzantium, I lost the war against Hungary and after a coup and a bref occupation under a provisional government, Byzantium rose again as the Rhomanian Federation, using a Greek-Rhomanian variant of Polish Citizen-ideology as an alternative to socialism (think Starship Troopers-style government). In a delicious fit of irony, the Rhomanian Federation managed to recover Greece in the 1950s, as the government of said state had become broke and insane to the point most Greeks preferred their Rhomanian cousins over their own government. This was however under a different player, as I had switched over to EuroCom.

Flag of the Rhomanian Federation with stylized double eagle. Vague airplane shape was intentional.
The flag and internal divisions of the Communist-aligned AmeriCom (Mexico), made by TheShah, the first and probably only openly pacifist (and later hippie) state in MG.
The crowing achievement of Roaring Forward was perhaps an actual WWIII in the 1970s, the result of a master plan suitable for a Bond villain, pulled by an insane Thailand using Russian nukes.
WWIII did not go well for EuroCom (partly from my inexperience with playing a superpower) and because the Russian player (Agentdark) had a much better fireplan. The fact that theo-fascist East Germany had indoctrinated its troops to the point that they believed Jesus would protect them from radiation also had something to do with it.
WWIII killed millions. Tens of European cities in Western Europe nuked and large regions chemically polluted. Untold Millions died, though most of Russia, Spain, Southern France and EuroCom Africa survived. And that was just the European theater. Eventually, EuroCom signed an armistice, with North France becoming an irradiated death-zone. Communism survived in the rest of the world though, mainly Asia, the America's and Africa.
Some graphics made by Fenwick. After Eurocom, I switched to Nuevo Iberia (the yellowish state in South America) and developed basic bionics.
We were heading to a kind of 1980s cyberpunk era, but the game collapsed soon after WWIII. Such is life in Moderated Games.

- RoN was a highly successful game and the first game in MG to go beyond the real life date it was played (2011-2012).
