Map Thread XXII

Alright guys, what do you think is the least impossible option out of the two ?
Premise: POD is an ASB-caused earthquake in the area between the 4th and 5th Nile cataracts somewhere at the beginning of the African humid period.

I have an idea to suggest to you for cutting the pear in half. What if instead of converging, the Blue Nile ended its course in the Red Sea while the White Nile leaves towards Lake Chad?

In gaining Trieste a deal is made with Italy ensuring autonomy for Italians in Trieste and Istria, which also means Istriot Italians are not expelled.
While acknowledging that you did specify it is not meant to be overly realistic, this really requires no Tito, as the genocidal bastard really wanted to have all Italians out of his Yugoslavian Lebensraum and had got started long before the solution of the Trieste issue. At the same time it also requires no Mussolini, because his being a genocidal bastard towards Slavs inside his Italian Lebensraum means that there will be a lot of rage directed at the Italians (both natives and settlers) after the war is over. Beyond that, it is a great map.

SWEDISH-DANISH WAR/SVENSK-DANSK KRIG/SVENSK-DANSK KRIG/SVENSKA-DANSKA KRIGET/SÆNSK-DANSKA STRÍÐ
1859-1860
In 1859, tensions in Scandinavia were at an all time high. Sweden detested its lack of power projection, and heavily regretted allying with Napoleone. So when the Norwegian Crown rebelled from Denmark, Sweden declared war on both Denmark and the Rebels. Due to the rebels, Denmark found itself unable to reinforce Norway whilst Sweden had a much easier time simply walking into Norway. After only a few months, Denmark surrendered both Norway and Ghana to Sweden.

FRANCO-PRUSSIAN WAR/FRANZÖSISCH-PREUSSISCHER KRIEG/FRANSÉISCH-PRUSSIAN KRIG/FRANS-PRUSSISCHE OORLOG/GUERRA FRANCO-PRUSIA/GUERRE FRANCO-PRUSSE
Franco-German Relations had always been rather tense. France dearly wanted the Rhine Territories, and was starting to greatly push for them. France decided the best way was to invade Luxemburg and crush Germany if they joined. So when France demanded Luxemburg be annexed, both North Germany and the Netherlands promised they would back Luxembourg. So France decided to Pre-emptively invade the German-Influenced Baden. And so began the Franco-Prussian War. At first, France saw victories as they steamrolled Baden, but the tide turned heavily after the Battle of Hüfingen, where they saw defeat after defeat as the Germans practically walked into Paris. During this humiliation, Spain occupied and annexed French Catalonia, to stop French-backed Catalan revolts. Italy also revoked the French Power Zone in Piedmont, citing that they were not a deserving Great Power. The Franco-Prussian is the most embittering war in France's history to this day...

It has been almost a decade since the end of the third world war and the end of American dominance over the planet. The world has drastically changed in the past century in ways almost no-one would have thought of. Asia and Africa are now the primary centres of global politics and finance while Europe and North America have fallen into chaos, over a billion people now live in arcologies in orbit around the planet, and the ideals of liberal democracy that defined the 20th century are now little more than a distant dream, dwarfed by rising nationalism, calls for a global revolution of the workers, a new wave of technocratic support from emerging specialist classes and even petty warlordism.

China is now the global hegemon at the centre of the world's politics, though their reign is disputed by India, Canada, the East African Federation, the Pan-American Union and many more, leading to a multipolar world as regional alliances and unions shape everything around them.

Few know how the new 22nd century will play out, but the nations of the world are all prepared; be it for a utopia for all, or extinction for all humanity...

I know, I know. Another "what if Central Powers won WW1". Yeah.

The main POD is that Greece's government remains stable after the beginning of the war, and through negotiations with Bulgaria and Germany, decides to join the Central Powers in mid/late 1915, after being promised gains in Albania, Macedonia, the Italian Dodecanese and Cyprus.
You can imagine the rest, with a Central Powers-dominated Balkan Peninsula and Aegean Seas.

It was just my take at a somewhat realistic "small" change of events and its consequences.

Feel free to ask any questions, and enjoy it!

The Soviets are sandwiches between the Germans and the White Russians and definitely not in a good position.

Has the French Government flee South or Paris made a open City?

Where America position in all of this if at all.

MAYBE not, I mean Tito as a Croat definitely had a particular bone to pick with Italians, after all, they were Croatia's main external enemy in the interwar era, and he was definitely comfortable expelling "enemy" ethnicities, with Vojvdoinian and Slovenian Germans also being unceremoniously booted, but he never touched, for example, the Hungarians, who are also the ethnic group of an Axis country which had separatist tendencies during WWII, were not super popular among Croats, and not very present among the Partisans. It's POSSIBLE just not all that likely. The big issue is the beef between Croats and Italians on the ground. Perhaps if, like in Greece, after the Italian Social Republic was established more Italian soldiers flocked to the Partisans (rather than either going back to Italy, going to the Chetniks, or continuing to work with the Nazis), the tensions could have been lessened in a more "bad government, good people" sort of way, but IDK what would facilitate such a situation, just trying to sort of explain backwards.

Beyond that, it is a great map.

Thanks.

Hey I mean, plenty of fantasy maps get posted here too.
Wish there were more fantasy maps here in the thread, but honestly I do understand why they don't show much given how hard it is to build one. Topography, bathymetry, worldbuilding, nations and more require a long span of time to be fully dealt with.

This is good! For what it's worth, usually when people shit on "muh CP victory!!!" worlds it's because they're fundamentally just Kaiserreich ripoffs (for all you gen alpha folks on here, Kaiserreich was the first big HOI mod (and iirc it dates all the way back to HOI2) and arguably the one that made "muh beeg Germoney" a THING. If you also see ancient relics of the battle between teenagers mad that boys won't talk to them (Reed fans) and teenagers mad that girls won't talk to them (Long fans) that also is from Kaiserreich.) and this very much isn't that. I enjoy having A-H be a way bigger deal here, they often get left out even though they were way more than the basket case that they are often represented as.

I solve this by being about as smart as a tardigrade or any other small, moss dwelling animal in that I am trying to make a decent story while hoping that when it comes to things like plate tectonics and exact biome distribution someone with a Ph.D. in climate studies, a reddit account, and the kind of bad decision making that encourages you to chase your daily dose of adderall with a can of red bull will help flesh out the other bits.

political transitions (RoA -> Wirt Coup = ANU -> successful revolution = RPN -> Achaean-American War = NAL)

there's essentially no English in Canada, outside of the Nysuomites who have joint citizenship (Canada and Nysuomi are both Societist Republics, along with the favorable trade, led to the joint citizenship deal in the 1980s, with all Canadian citizens being able to vote in NALian elections as a result (although they can only vote in Nysuomi state elections outside of the 3 national ones)
  • Is the Societist Republic of Nysuomi visible on the map, and why did an English-speaking ethnicity adopt "New Finnish" as their moniker?
  • The "Canadian citizens being able to vote in NALian elections" part doesn't seem to make sense - why would the NAL be involved in a joint citizenship deal between Canada and Nysuomi? I'm missing something about the geography here. Is Nysuomi some sort of jointly-ruled condominium between the NAL and Canada?
  • How are relations between Astoria and Canada, and the NAL and Canada? Your previous answer imply that the latter is cordial, considering the voting rights agreement - is Societism less revolutionary and expansionistic than OTL Marxism?
  • What caused the Achaean-American War? How did the Achaeans came to be, and why do they oppose the RPN?
  • Forgot to ask - what language, ethnicity and form of government does alt-Florida have? How are relations between them and the NAL?
