Got to do a 5 minute presentation on a choice of 4 What If's, 've picked;

What if Sulla never retired?

Any thoughts . . .

I'd imagine there's some kind of Popularis revolt against him, but then again, Sulla died soon after resigning power, so maybe not? Perhaps not much would change, but I doubt this. It would create a precedent for siezing and holding power indefinitely forty years ahead of OTL, so major changes are inevitable...

why would he is the frist that springs too minde. The man was very likely in his early 60`s and quite ill when he retierde if one is too belive plutarch. So ther really needs to bee a good reason why he would choose or feel compelled to stay in power.
Sulla was the firts roman dictator in 120 years and the first "dictator legibus faciendis et rei publicae constituendae"/dictator for the making of laws and for the settling of the constitution. His office did not have a end of term. He most likely did what feel was need and then quit. But the preccedens for ceasar was allredy made, and one can aruge that sulla was just more successfull :D

Maby we see some form of new sosial war or an barberian attack, but somthing need to happen to make him stay.
