We may even see Protestants rejoining Catholicism and changing it from within, create a hybrid “unorthodox church of Britain” unless James is keen on stomping it out and being harsher on certain ministers that OTL Mary left alone such as John Knox
Now that could be intriguing, I’m not sure Knox could be reconciled, but others definitely could

Anyway, back to the original POD:

With a James/Charlotte union what does this mean for Scotland, France and England?
England doesn’t have leverage for a rough wooing as james and Charlotte habe a fair few sons. James succession is secure much earlier, lessening the chance for shenanigans, he may also proceeded to act more firmly on the Douglas clan here.

Shenanigans can be in the form of his sons marrying scandalous ladies...that being said the Douglas clan will be pushed away from history textbooks...since England, Scotland and France are all in-laws it will be a MESS if they start fighting

Indeed it will,

He did do that otl, in response to Henry declaring himself King of Ireland. I wonder if ttl, he could use the title to try and get something useful from Henry VIII in their talks at York
That is possible, perhaps in exchange for a betrothal between their children? Though the Tudors do NOT need to start inbreeding, look at IOTL's Habsburgs. The Stewart and Valois dynasties were Catholic so their children will be too
